Malibu residents upset at Bob Dylan's Port a Potty
How sweet is life when you live next to a celebrity in Malibu? Outside Bob Dylan’s house, the answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind.

That’s what some of the singer-songwriter’s neighbors are claiming in an increasingly onerous dispute over a porta-potty at his sprawling ocean-view estate on Point Dume.

Residents contend that the nighttime sea breeze sends a noxious odor from a portable toilet on Dylan’s property wafting into their homes. The stench has made members of one family physically ill and forced them to abandon their bedrooms on warm nights, they claim.

For more than six months, Dylan has ignored their complaints and their pleas to remove the outhouse, the downwind neighbors say.

“It’s a scandal -- 'Mr. Civil Rights’ is killing our civil rights,” said David Emminger, whose home is directly behind the porta-potty -- apparently intended for use by employees of the entertainer best known for his 1960s-era protest songs.

The stinky port-a-potty is for his security guards. Think he could build them something permanent?

3. MIght be a code thing. When we were renovating our house
we had to provide a port a potty for the workers. Even though I had no problem with them using the bathroom, it had something to do with the way their bond worked. We did have it in the back though. Initially the truck who dropped it off put it in the front yard, :eyes:, but the neighbors (and I as well) weren't too happy.

12. Normally, I would agree with you, but not in this case
most of those homes don't have heating or AC, because on the Malibu coast, it never gets too hot or too cold.

So, most people always have their windows open and many houses are right next to each other....would you want to be smelling that in your house 24/7?

15. I wasn't saying Dylan's not being inconsiderate...
...but the clown complaining about his civil rights should be tazed within an inch of his snotty life.

10. BFD
Don't think we know enough to guess who's right. The City is looking into it. I seriously doubt Dylan is too involved in the whole issue.

Ugh... the hypocrisy of these rich celebrities gets tiresome...

Build them a damn bathroom, Bob. Isn't there a law?

16. Something stinks here...
and it may not have anything to do with Dylan. Most port-a-johns I've been near have a liquid inside to kill the bacteria and stop the stink. I used to work at a chemical plant, and when the wind was just right, the smell from a sewage treatment plant would waft over our facility. At that point, helpful neighbors would call the police and complain about our smell. It could be rotting seaweed, have you ever smelled a salt marsh at low tide? I think that there's more to the story than meets the eye.

Let's see, is this the same corporate media that wants to do away with anything "liberal"? Would they trash Bob Dylan just so we would realize how much better Ted Nugent is? Just askin'....

Bill
