for medical insurance or life insurance, or will have to pay such a high premium, he decides he cannot afford it. If he gets a life insurance policy, he may have a "waiting period" before full benefits would be paid..

BUT

AIG saw nothing wrong with issuing "insurance" for the hinkiest of deals, failed miserably, almost tanked the world economy, and end up being rewarded by having taxpayers bail them out..over and over.

My 65 yr old husband with diabetes would love to see if AIG could offer him such a "deal" so he could get some life insurance..

Maybe I'll call them

1. Blood pressure meds are not a big deal these days with Life insurance
And type 2 diabetes is also much less of a problem then it used to be in getting life insurance.

AIG's life insurance division is actually the one part of AIG that is doing well and is not in financial crisis.

2. What you say is true
But I think the OP intended her remarks more along the lines of a parable.

6. Yeah, but try getting health-care insurance
I was turned down because I took hay fever meds. Hay fever is an automatic disqualification.

4. the difference, of course, is the comparative lack of upside potential
healthcare premiums are a nice steady business with excess profits, but you can't leverage them to the hilt and multiply them.

those risky derivatives, on the other hand, reaped ginormous profits, at least until they didn't. but the beauty of the annual bonus is that those who make the decisions get their money out in real-time, and simply move on to the next job when things go bust.
