Say all the Major newspapers and news networks? I believe that is going to be the future of getting news. It seems most major newspapers are on the brink going under because of the internets. Who will actually do the investigative work and the writing if there is no payment for their efforts? Right now it seems to me like most of the bloggers sift through all the world news sources and write about the stories that interest them. What is going to happen when there are no more news sources? When AP and Routers are no more. I keep hearing bandied about a scheme to charge a small monthly charge to have access to a news group, a sort a subscription. The Seattle PI is putting out it's last real paper today after a hundred and forty years of publication. They plan on keeping a limited version on the web but how will they make it pay? I think the days of everything being free on the web are coming to an end and I think that is sad but inevitable. Change is the only real constant in the universe some say.

2. I get all my news here for a lot less than that.
I don't care if any of the MSM is alive a year from now.

But that's just me.

5. I would
If it was a robust collection that included print as well as video.

I dont think the net will ever be less free than it is now. You can thank all the hackers/crackers/file sharers....for that. As long as two computers can exchange files people will find a way to continue to provide free stuff.

10. Sure-- I pay more than that now. I can't understand how...
anyone could expect free news to be quality news any more than free anything else. I don't care how many complaints there are about media-- some guy with a laptop and a blog is no more credible than a working reporter.

The "alternative" press so far has little resources to do decent investigations, few sources to go to, tends to rely on the big media to do most of the hard work so it can rip off and kibbitz their stories and always has a spin of its own.

("Real journalists are defined by whether or not I agree with them.")

11. Many of Us Pay to Support THIS Site
Our willingness to pay for a news source depends on how valuable it is to us. Just like anything else.

Most of the major news outlets have been bought by those who seek to control what is reported.

"News" that is mostly propaganda is not of much value to me.

Report the news and we will come!
