Geither needs to be fired. Who else?
In the NY Times today I learn that

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/17/business/17bailout.html?_r=1&ref=us
WASHINGTON — President Obama and his top economic advisers scrambled to calm a nationwide furor on Monday over bonuses paid at the American International Group, even as administration officials acknowledged they had known about the issue for months.
.
.
.

But administration officials said that the Treasury secretary, Timothy F. Geithner, did not personally become aware until last week that an even bigger round of payments was due on March 15. Administration officials said Mr. Geithner learned of the deadline early last week, when the Federal Reserve Bank of New York alerted him that the bonus payments were coming due.

Geithner is either lying or he wasn't doing his job. The man needs to be fired.

1. I think I'm with you on that. He's too close to Wall Street and please...
he learned of the deadline early last week? Not bloody likely.

3. I have no idea...
the manufactured outrage has sure muddied the water, hasn't it? You'd think all that matters is what happened Saturday.

He was on TV dithering why the AIG bonuses couldn't be withheld.

8. Yeah, what a dick.
Letting those millions slide because he was distracted by the billions and trillions he's dealing with.

I can't believe this. What kind of asshole votes for a guy like this?

:hi:

10. No it shows how he
doesn't have a handle on it. If AIG were nationalize, as many have been calling for, there would be new management, and this crap wouldn't happen.

9. Both Geithner and Sommers
were bad choices. Geithner was there when Paulsen put all this shit together.
I've posted before how Obama is failing on the banking rescue. He needs to nationalize some of the big players. Citi, B of A, AIG.
But Geithner refuses to consider it.

11. He is Wall Street's inside man. He's doing a terrific job...for them.
They are well on their way to receiving over $3 TRILLION of free money.

The first two thirds of it hasn't slowed their pampered princely privilege one iota.

Geithner needs to go ASAP. He never should have been invited in from the dark side. Summers needs to go too. Judging by his disastrously nonsensical escalation in Afghanistan, the Obama needs to clean some Defense house too.
