Could Congress not just pass a special tax to get these bonuses back?
Something along the lines that certain executive "bonuses," possible only because of taxpayer money, are taxed at 100%?

Really this just begs the question: why on Earth did the govt. not see this coming? They really thought institutions like AIG would act for the good of our nation, knowing their greedy pasts?

I'll bet the govt. saw this coming, just as it was complicit in allowing this "crisis" of a downward cycle to build up over decades of Wall Street decadence and fraud.
