Glenn Beck Comes Out in Favor of Paying AIG Executive Bonuses
By: Blue Texan Tuesday March 17, 2009 10:30 am

The Populist Champion of the Everyman is sticking up for those downtrodden, forgotten millionaires at AIG.

DAILY BEAST: How angry does it make you that AIG is using our money to pay $165 million in bonuses to their ill-begotten executives?

BECK: It makes me insane because George Bush shouldn’t have given that money to AIG in the first place. Now we have to care about what their contracts with their people say. Now I’m mad at George Bush and Barney Frank and Chris Dodd making this deal. But I can’t believe that Barack Obama wants to break the contract. What are you talking about? You’ve got a contract. Now if that’s what the government is going to do, saying that they have the right to terminate contracts, well, you’ve got to shut the pie hole on it. It’s one or the other. You can’t just start breaking contracts. If you want to do that, that’s why you let businesses fail.

DB: It’s not our contract with AIG, the people’s contract with AIG. It’s AIG’s contracts with its executives.

BECK: They made those deals with their employees. How could you possibly back out of the AIG contract because it’s popular? It’s a legal contract.

3. Okay glen how bout urging said executives not to accept the money
Oh that would require them to reject the conservative value of greed and the conservative operative of paying bonuses for failure.

Oh and while I got ya on the line glen please regale us with your military service.

4. I was listening to WTOP - All News Radio Washington DC
last night driving home from the metro and they had a contracts law professor from the University of Maryland law school on for an interview. His take on this: Contracts were made to be broken.

6. Why don't we insist that
the Attorney general and his staff go over those contracts with a fine tooth comb and look for any loophole they can find.

Lawyers do this all the time. Contract law is a big deal and contracts are contested all the time. Just assuming all the I's are dotted and all the T's are crossed is a big assumption.

7. "It’s a legal contract."
So was the UAW's contract with GM, Ford and Chrysler. But without checking I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Glen didn't have a problem with forcing them to make concessions.

10. Was Beck saying this about UAW contracts?
Every time a Republican brings AIG contract obligations, the UAW contracts need to be thrown back in their faces.

And do not let them say, 'but if they fail, everything will crash.' They refused to acknowledge that, when they demanded the UAW renegotiate their contracts.

13. I notice that everytime ...
a republicon starts blaming Pelosi,Reid,Dodd,etc..Seems as though Republicons never have anything to do with anything that goes wrong in the government in their eyes if they can't find a Dem to blame they will go back years and years ago.

But,I have plenty of Repubs in the present that I can put my finger on who have contributed to what is wrong now with the country and if they were in charge right now I believe the country would be through. As far as they are concerned, you are on your own but the rich and people in other countries are in need of help with OUR MONEY.

He thinks the federal government is now picking on private individuals. Chris Dodd made this deal, and we need to find out the truth.

20. If it's a popular and sane opinion, Beck will be against it
And I don't think even he agrees with the bonus pay-out.

He's doing it to be contrary. Because controversy sells - and Beck wants to keep HIS job.

Look for more of this in the near future.

Fresh from his ratings victory for his "We Surround Them" abomination, they've found a winning theme Beck - "The Fake Iconoclast"
