Ruth Madoff files homestead exemption in Palm Beach on same day authorities
announce investigation

Oh Ruth... Are you digging yourself into a bigger hole?

Records show that Ruth Madoff filed for a homestead exemption for her and Bernie's Palm Beach home on the same day that federal authorities announced that they would investigate her for her involvement in Bernie's multi-billon dollar Ponzi scheme.

The Miami Herald reports:

Most experts agree that this move is an attempt by Ruth to keep whatever money she can get.

''I don't think there's any question about that,'' said Palm Beach accountant Richard Rampell.

In Florida, homeowners are well protected from creditors, which is likely why Ruth filed this exemption, experts say.

''This is likely why they did it,'' said Harvey Oyer, a real estate attorney with the West Palm Beach firm Shutts and Bowen.

''Florida is universally known as a state that protects debtors,'' Oyer said.

The article goes on to say that according to the County Assessor's Office, the home is valued at $9-million.

Rot in hell, Ruthie...you are into Bernie's shit up to your neck.

1. She can't show her face in Palm Beach
I don't know how the homestead exemption works in Palm Beach but one thing for sure, Ruthie sure couldn't live there. Palm Beach is home to many of the Madoff victims. If she ever showed her face in public, the Madoff victims would hurl insults, shoes, coffee, whatever, at her. It would be kind of a living hell.

2. Florida Homestead Exemptions are for primary residences only
I thought they lived in New York. Filing would then be fraud.

5. I am not sure on where they live primarily....
...if they filed state income taxes in Fla, she probably could file for the exemption there.

But...who knows with these crooks! :hi:

12. No state income taxes in Fla?
Hey, I did not know that. I thought Nevada was about the only state with no state income tax.

Well, I would bet then that the Madoffs have managed to establish their primary residence in Fla.

Good guess, right! :hi:

3. that's some homestead
Hope she runs up against some sharp lawyers.

And what was the deal with Bernie 'getting botox in prison' that was reported last night? Cover for some plastic surgery so he can live happily ever after - after 'Bernie dies'? Can't help but picture him on a beach with Kenny Boy x(

7. Totally, utterly conniving and shameless. But I guess you have to have those qualities
to do what she and her husband did.

No shame. It's all about them. Disgusting!
