AIG: Truth in Lending--an Oxymoron?
It will be interesting to track down the bonus-takers who left AIG--subpoena them to explain why they left, when they decided to leave and what they are doing now. Then track their history of receiving bonuses. It's curiouser and curiouser that the "retention" bonuses were so massive and yet 11 of the recipients apparently went elsewhere. Where could they get another goose that would lay such fine golden eggs that weren't even the fruits of their Captain of Finance labors?
Could it be that the 11 who left were moral people -- well, kind of -- who couldn't stomach staying at AIG but could stomach taking that final bonus check? Or could it be that the 11 were people who "happened" to be old enough to retire, and opted to do so? Or is there really another story that we will spend months and months waiting to hear as a few courageous investigators track it down?
