The latest on Natasha Richardson from the NYT
Family Gathers Around Natasha Richardson

Published: March 18, 2009

As the morning sun draped Lenox Hill Hospital on Wednesday, the family of Natasha Richardson were huddled inside after the actress suffered a potentially fatal head injury from what seemed at first like a benign skiing accident on Monday.

Ms. Richardson, 45, was flown from Montreal Tuesday night to the Upper East Side hospital, where her mother, the actress Vanessa Redgrave, was seen entering. Joely Richardson, Ms. Richardson’s sister, was also reported to have shown up at the hospital late Tuesday evening.

A spokesman for the family said on Wednesday morning there was no update on Ms. Richardson’s condition. Although a spokesman for Lenox Hill spokesman declined to release any information on Wednesday, that did not deter televisions crews and other reporters from jamming the 77th Street entrance to the hospital.

Two people close to her family, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to reporters, declined to describe Ms. Richardson’s condition before or during the flight, other than to say it was very serious and that her family was highly distressed.

Ms. Richardson is married to the actor Liam Neeson, and the couple has two sons, Michael and Daniel. Mr. Neeson was seen crouched inside an ambulance beside his wife on Tuesday afternoon at Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal, as she lay heavily wrapped in blankets with tubes around her face.

2. No, I'm afraid there isn't much hope.
I feel badly for her kids, who were with her when this happened.

4. Another ski death
A very beloved high school teacher was killed last year on a local ski run. He was a young man who touched his students in a very positive way.

6. They Really Need to Send Out An Official Press Release, Even If Her Immediate Future Is Unknown
It's the only thing that's going to give them a little more breathing space from the press, I think.

7. I feel badly for them being under the spotlight at a time like this. Unlike many of their colleagues
they didn't seem to really cultivate attention from the press.

They seemed to lead a very low key, non red carpet lifestyle.

I wish them some peace and quiet right now.
