Can someone please explain to me REAL SIMPLY the concept of "hush money" in regard to the bonuses?

1. They throw you a fat bonus so you don't speak ill of them at a later date

4. It's not hush money...sheesh

Most employment contracts have non-disclosure and non-disparagement clauses, which eliminates the "hush money" interpretation.

5. It's becoming more and more clear that what AIG did to cause this mess....

had the blessings and cooperation of many in Congress and the Administration.

The AIG execs know where the bodies are buried (they know where the money went and to whom.)

They may also know who was paid off in Congress, for what and how much.

So, after causing the financial crisis of the century, they all get multi-million dollar bonuses.

And, in the dead of night, a provision in the stimulus bill that would have prevented the bonuses was removed and no one is saying who removed it.


Hush Money.
