Want to "win" in Afghanistan?
Stop the bombing and start passing out high quality copies of The Holy Qur'an and good food and water to the Afghan population and we will win in no time. Keep giving them food until they can't eat any more. They will all pretty much be our friends after doing that.

Sounds too simple, doesn't it?

It would work.

1. The taliban will still come along and threaten them and kill them for flying kites
or educating women or making music or having paintings, and for cooperating with us.

4. The taliban are welcomed with open arms by many of these people
they promise social services, which is more than Kharzai's bullshit government does. The taliban is so popular with some in the region that when they crossed into Pakistan to take refuge and plan further insurgency, many intermarried with local Pakistani tribes.

11. No, actually the freakin Talaban is the problem.
Many of us, since before even Bush was in office, have been screaming about the incredible brutality they execute in Afganistan. Even before 9/11, I would have been all for a UN invasion of that country. Had you've been old enough, or paying attention, you would know that some of sickest shit known to mankind have been perpetrated by those insane fucks.

13. There might have been a window ten years ago. It's too late now.
No invading force can kill the idea these people have spread or undo their web of influence.
