i finally got a rw BS email from my sister
i suppose it was bound to happen. my response follows the email.
This Tom Dashcle is nuts and should be jailed.

Subject: Elder Health Care

Everybody that is on this mailing list is either a senior citizen, is getting
close or knows somebody that is.

Most of you know by now that the Senate version (at least) of the "stimulus"
bill includes provisions for extensive rationing of health care for senior citizens. The author of this part of the bill, former Senator and Tax evader, Tom Dashcle was credited today by Bloomberg with the following statement.

Daschle says health-care reform will not be pain free. "Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them."

If this does not sufficiently get to you, just remember that Senators and Congressmen have their own healthcare plan that is first dollar or very low
co-pay which they are guaranteed the remainder of their lives and are not subject to this new law if it passes.
Please use the power of the Internet to get this message out. Talk it up at
the grassroots level. We have an election coming up in one year and nine months. We have the ability to address and reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and its allies have begun and in the interim, we
can make their lives miserable. Let's do it!

my response:
hey (names removed),
this is truly bullshit. please check the "source": http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601039&refer=columnist_mccaughey&sid=aLzfDxfbwhzs

the quotes in this email have been changed to put the words of the editorialist into Daschle's mouth. misleading. regarding the writer, Betsy McCaughey, see LIES, DAMN LIES, AND BETSY MCCAUGHEY

"LIES, DAMN LIES, AND BETSY MCCAUGHEY. Watching Betsy McCaughey lie about Barack Obama's health care legislation is a little bit like watching Aretha Franklin on stage: It's not as good as you remember, but you have to admit that she's still got it. So too with McCaughey, who I was planning to ignore. I'm too young for nostalgia. But then Limbaugh grabbed her column, and so did Fox news, and of course Drudge, and last night, chatting with an acquaintance who works on the Hill, he got a call from his left-leaning mother who'd heard the stimulus was going to destroy her health care...."

this is hate talk being disseminated from people such as rush limbaugh glenn beck et al, who would rather see this country go to hell than to see it succeed with a democratic administration. which really irks me no end, because the previous administration has put us into such a horrific hole, if we can't all come together with the just causes of peace and prosperity for EVERYONE, we're sunk. i mean it.

this last part of the email you forwarded gets straight to the true agenda of whoever wrote it:

"reverse the dangerous direction the Obama administration and its allies have begun and in the interim, we
can make their lives miserable"

noble causes, my ass.

i love you. please never send me another load of crap like this.

1. Tom Daschle in December 2008
Daschle is now urging a far more aggressive push by those advocating systemic change. "This means going on the offensive," he writes in "Critical," his recent book about healthcare, in which he singles out drug makers and insurers as potential obstacles to successful healthcare overhaul.

"We cannot assume that the public recognizes the distortions and fallacies peddled by the reform opponents; we have to educate people on the emptiness of the antireform rhetoric," he counsels.

2. thanks
i don't know enough about daschle to speak to that as regards the email she sent. but he's a straw dog anyway. the point is that they took an editorial, which was written by a liar, and pointed to it as news and then, at the end, the real agenda: "make their lives miserable." it's infuriating.

i forgot to add at the end that i'm a proponent of single payer health care. i'm a wuss! we were talking insurance just yesterday on the phone and i didn't go there because i know her. she took our conversation as some sort of invitation to lay that crap on me.

3. When did your sister turn to the Dark Side?
I am always interested in siblings raised together that turn out totally differently, like having one become a thinking person and the other a right-wing sheep.

Can you pinpoint a particular point when she began the downward spiral? What causes this, anyway?

4. lol
i don't know - it goes quite a ways back. our father was a democrat and our mother a republican. for me it seems more nature than nurture that i grew up a bleeding heart peace mongering liberal. my younger brother (year older than me) is a liberal democrat too, our older brother and sister, oops.
my sister probably got it from her husband, though i can't swear to his politics, i would be surprised if he turned out to be a liberal. i do recall how much she always hated nixon. my brother joined the VVAW and marched against the war in vietnam and now from what i gather he stays glued to fake news. however he may have mellowed in the past few years with all the gw boondoggles and BS. i don't go there with him ever since he told me that iraq was responsible for 911. his wife and daughter are liberals, there may be hope.

i dunno. i hope my sister follows the links i provided and learns something, though.
