The Republicans are diminishing in numbers...big time.... WHY?
These guys need Heroes and Their "Heroes" are not really....

and their Lies have been exposed

and their Damage has been noted,

and their plans have been inadequate,

and their Solutions are nil,

and some of their Heroes...are actually ZEROES

11. When Will They Catch On That the Word LIBERTARIAN Derives from LIBERAL?
Citizens should have to take an I.Q. test before earning the right to vote!

13. Uh, not really. Libertarian derives from Liberty,
not Liberal. Both derive, however, from the same Latin root.

18. I Should Have Said Libertarianism Derives from Liberalism!
Edited on Sun Mar-22-09 03:33 PM by mckara
Both words are based in Latin from the adjective liber for free: Libertas for liberty and libertalis for liberal. Founders of libertarian movements date back to the age of liberalism, and their founders were English liberals. Does that explain it better for you?

24. Yep. Most so-called "Libertarians" are just Pukes
The real Libertarians are nuts, but they want nothing to do with the Pukes calling themselves "Libertarians" out of convince or shame.

21. They lost because we had good candidates and they had idiots, but that doesn't mean they diminished.
I'd like to see evidence that Americans are actually abandoning the GOP and becoming Democrats in significant numbers.

14. The country has move culturally to the left.
Edited on Sun Mar-22-09 11:45 AM by RDANGELO
The Republican Party as it exists today, was born on reaction to the Civil Rights Amendment. Their base is insecure with America's diversity, while the rest of the nation has become much more comfortable in it's own skin, in a society where everybody doesn't look alike, talk alike, worship alike or form bonding relationships alike. I am 55 years old; I have watched all evolve.

23. Katrina & Iraq
http://pewresearch.org/pubs/773/fewer-voters-identify-as-republicans

The GOP started falling apart in 2005 (after the 2004 election when they gained the presidency and 4 senate seats but before the 2006 elections when they lost the house and senate).

I personally think Katrina and Iraq were among the bigger reasons for it, as those embody GOP philosophy. If Willie Horton embodies the negatives of liberal philosophy on crime, then Katrina and Iraq embody the GOP philosophy on foreign policy, government and taxes. They want to cut taxes even if infrastructure suffers, and next thing you know people in NO are on their roofs begging for help. They want war with anyone, even if it is stupid.

What surprised me was I thought after the 2008 election the public would start warming up to the GOP again, but if anything the trend is continuing because the GOP only wants to obstruct and pursue the same failed policies that created many of these issues (ignoring the middle class, supply side economics, deregulation, gov. is always the problem). WHen you can't buy toys or peanut butter w/o worrying you or your kids will get sick then all of a sudden government is not the problem, it is the solution.

The GOP can't figure this out. Fine by me. People under 30 support the democratic party by 30 point margins as is.

They are all "Independents", and, even better, "Libertarians", now. But they are just trying to put lipstick on a pig.
