Criticizing former Vice-President Dick Cheney is as satisfying as shooting fish in a barrel. Not very challenging. Now, if the fish is a barracuda that ate your children, then perhaps you might be cheering if someone else did it. Unfortunately, John King of CNN did not do any damage to the fish that got away.

If you didn’t see it, don’t bother looking for it. The interview was no more than a rehash of the past eight years, or the past 30 years. A right-leaning (shocked?) journalist threw softball questions to the man accused of condoning torture. Americans really want to hear hard-hitting questions and truthful answers. Not that Cheney didn’t whiff on those lobs. When you are as far off the mark at the Bush-Cheney White House was, any attempt at rewriting history is going to be nearly impossible.

The point of this post isn’t to run down King’s skills–which are far, far better than he showed on Sunday–nor Cheney, who would have been more interesting if he had given the death stare once or twice. These targets are just too easy. The more difficult thing to do is connect the dots. This has been and obviously will continue to be the modus operandi of the “conservative cabal.” Press Secretary used the exact, perfect word for this group of conservative conspirators.

Cabal– a clique (often secret) that seeks power usually through intrigue

conspire: engage in plotting or enter into a conspiracy, swear together; “They conspired to overthrow the government”

conspiracy: a plot to carry out some harmful or illegal act (especially a political plot)

The most important story of the next few years will be the economy, but the real story is the one that might never be told to the American people. It sounds more like Hollywood’s fevered imagination, a horror story told in gory detail, but the truth is far worse than any fiction. There was a plot that almost tore up the Constitution and destroyed United States of America. Only the ineptitude of the plotters at actually carrying it out, and the impossibility of the plan saved the US from a revolution in reverse. Maybe....That history is still being written, every day. Cheney helped by showing us exactly how the Cabal manages to rewrite history. Much of that history Cheney declared never happened, or didn’t happen the way he said it did. King did not ask the tough questions which would let the public make informed opinions. No one knows the whole truth, but we can see the results.

If we let conservative cabal members keep denying they did anything at all, we are still in grave danger. As has always been well known, Americans have never been in danger from foreign enemies. Our downfall would come from within.

Was this it? Unfortunately, we just don’t know.

1. Stealing Florida 2000 hardly qualifies as "almost"
There was an overthrow of the Executive branch of the US.
Time to face the truth, then deal with the repercussions.
50% of judicial appointments were by the Junta!
