Little help, not sure this is appropriate
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 04:16 AM by MichaelHarris
Some of you know I do sports photography for WSU from time to time. One of my new gigs is the Women's Rugby team. They recently beat their rival Western Washington and are now headed to Stanford for the DII Collegiate Women's Playoffs. After defeating Western Washington University, the Cougs finished out their regular season with an undefeated record of 7-0 (6-0 league, 1-0 non-league). The final score of the game was 29-0. Thank you so much to all of the fans and parents that made it out to watch the game!

I'm a huge supporter of Women's athletics and do whatever I can to help in anyway, either publicity or money and in this instance both. I've been the Women's basketball photographer for two years and this is my first year as Rugby photographer. Not a lot of people know that monetary support for some Women's sports is limited, the school will provide some matching funds. The money they need for the trip to Stanford is around 10,000 dollars and they've raised 5000 including some funds from WSU.

My wife and I will be donating a check tomorrow. Understanding that times are bad I would like for those that have a little extra to consider helping these ladies out.

You would not believe how much they would appreciate it. It's all about the development of leadership among women. Also, if they win nationals they can be DU's team also, woohoooo.

3. Wish there was a more equitable distribution of funds between men's and women's college sports. I
have no money to offer you.

9. Are you talkin to me?
I wish you well in what ever makes you happy. Personally, I don’t get into sports. It seems to me that while we as a nation are so preoccupied with sports, we don’t even notice our government is passing legislation, slow but sure that takes the power away from the people and gives it to the government. The next time you pee on yourself with excitement because some one threw a ball through a hoop, ask yourself, I wonder how much of my freedom I lost today!

11. yep. those damned things to get one's mind off the BS of the day are horrible
:sarcasm:

Lighten up a bit. You'd be surprised but many of us can enjoy sports or any other activity AND pay attention to govt.

We're kinda like our president - we can walk and chew gum at the same time.

15. I love feigned earnestness. It's always so easy to spot.
We get it. You're a very serious person. You think everyone should be solemn and constantly monitoring bad news.

Sorry. I'm going to have fun from time to time (or even most of the time), reading for pleasure, watching a football game, etc.

You know why I can afford to do that? Because we have Serious People on watch all the time. Thanks! :hi:

17. Thanks a million Lex
The women are beating the doors this weekend to raise the rest of the money. I told them some travel agents can find deals where if you book 9 the 10th goes free. Don't know if they still do that but it's worth a shot. They have 26 people but all may not be able to go. They have a week or so and with a lot of help they may make it.
