1. America got bitch-slapped by the invisible hand.

The invisible hand being the term Adam Smith used to describe self-interest (aka greed.) Greed is good, but only when you have power over yourself and no one else, when you're exercising control on behalf of other people, as all investors and managers do, then greed cannot be in the driver seat.

The problem with that, however, is that no person can be divorced of their greed, it would not be natural. People should act in their self-interests, that way everyone has someone to take of them: themselves.

The proposition that another person will act on your behalf better than you can is absurd on its face for all but the youngest of people or those with an impaired self-interest, such as those addicted to drugs, with mental illness or special needs status, or those with physical challenges that impair the ability of one to care for oneself.
