Obama Press Conference: Why don't these dumb motherfuckers get it?
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 07:29 PM by Mike 03
We have to spend a ton of money to get out of this crisis.

We have two choices:

1. Spend a ton of money to get out of this crisis: doing so, we can win or we can fail.

2. We can spend nothing or spend inadequately to escape this crisis and definitely fail.

3. Another problem you are missing: where do you spend it?
At the top, hoping it encourages the investors to re-establish credit lines and invest in American industry? Or at the bottom, providing a direct stimulus to the lower levels so the people in the middle and the bottom have a solid job and paycheck, such that the investor class sees a more profitable environment to invest within?

Top or bottom. Its important to have this conversation.

5. Exactly.
Re establishing credit lines don't mean shit when you ain't got a job, because nobody's going to loan you money, even if your brother in law owns the damn bank.

This whole "Wall Street first" mentality is so completely bassackwards.

4. I don't think these reporters are trying to get answers ...
They're playing to their audience -- trying to advocate more
than to question the president. It's really a useless exercise
(you could see Helen Thomas' disgust at CowChip Reid's question;
probably thinking, "Why don't you ask something RELEVANT, you
stupid newbie?").

7. I want to throttle Ed Harris (or whatever his name is).
The one who just asked about the "delayed" outrage.
