Healthcare, Education, Energy-top priorities in the budget, which
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 10:42 PM by babylonsister
will be huge. Do you think we should go for it, or take the rethug mantra of not spending a thing? How about Kent Conrad, who is trying to half this budget.

I think Americans like these positions. I do.

Here's Kent Conrad:

And here is Grassley:

Chuck Grassley now supports an across-the-board freeze on federal spending for 3 years

7. And that's why President Obama thinks it's so important. For
too many years it's been addressed on the fringes. Let's just do it.

9. But if he TOUCHES Medicare, string him up by his balls
He's already talking about making the elderly pay higher co-pays, and having Medicare pay less so that "other insurance" has to pay more.

I like many of his positions, but on this one, I truly fear his "health care reform" could be like Clinton's "welfare reform": A nice way of saying, "@#$% the poor!" :scared:

10. Do you honestly think
Obama would do anything with the intent of screwing the poor? Come on. That's so not what he's about.

3. A spending freeze is bound to make the recession
into the great depression. We need, and badly, to rethink our way of life. We need a new paradigm. We need to understand that this depression will go hand in hand with the ecology. We need to forget manufactured food. We need to find ways to help the earth sustain us and to make birth control free and desirable across the globe.

This business of bombing millions of people is a lousy method of birth control.

5. No war was even brought up, or the cost. How weird is that?
And fwiw, I think we're not bombing millions anymore, though it hasn't stopped.

OK, how 'bout this?

11. I think we MUST address those three issues
They are WAY more important than dumping trainloads of money on securities and commodities speculators.
