Web Ad for Bobby Jindal Uses Celebrity Voices (And Cenk's) Without Permission

By Cenk Uygur

An ad on the web for Bobby Jindal uses a number of celebrity voices seemingly endorsing Jindal and offering high praise of the governor. The only problem is that all of the quotes are taken out of context and without permission.

How do I know? I'm one of the voices they used, which is quite curious because I am neither a celebrity nor anywhere near a Bobby Jindal fan.

Some of the other voices in the ad include Chris Matthews of MSNBC, David Gregory of NBC, Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Chris Wallace of Fox News (I believe Jay Leno and Alan Colmes are also in there, but those are not confirmed yet).

Of course, none of these people have endorsed Gov. Jindal and their quotes praising him are taken wildly out context. To give you a sense how absurdly out of context these quotes are, look at the Jindal promotional video below. Then look at the video they took my quotes from. Do I sound like I'm praising him in the second video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDSd8dWUMjk&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.huffingtonpost.com%2Fcenk-uygur%2Fweb-ad-for-bobby-jindal-u_b_178811.html&feature=player_embedded|Bobby Jindal for President, 2012>

Do I appear to be a big supporter of Bobby Jindal? The ad took my quote on how Jindal got accepted into all of these great schools and high positions in government. What it left out was the part where I said that was surprising given that he is otherwise, "." How much more out of context could my quotes have been...?

1. Can Cenk sue?
I mean, using his voice without permission and taking things out of context like that is so wrong. But then the Republicans are notorious for stealing music without permission--they probably thought this was the next logical step.

7. You know, I'm not sure about the rules on that.
He is a Columbia law school graduate so I assume he knows, but I really doubt he would.

2. Blows my mind that Jindal can't find friends to support him but
feels the need to rip off critics? What's up with that?!

3. That is like ads for movies taken from reviews
The review says "One would have thought given the budget and cast, that Horse Chesnuts would be a grand spectacle with Oscar-worthy performances, instead of this overacted piece of tripe."

The blurb in the papers says: Horse Chestnuts . . a grand spectacle with Oscar-worthy performances!

Taking things out of a clear context is bordering on fraud. Jindal will just continue to make himself look sillier and siller.

America Can Do Anything!

But I hate the way the right can turn a quote into a lie. I remember when Roger Ailes was doing the same thing at Faux's business channel.

They took a quotation and cut off the end to entirely change the meaning. I believe the original was, 'Fox Business Channel has changed the face of business news. Now change it back.'

Of course they only printed the first sentence of the quote, completely changing it's meaning. They lie as a matter of course.

25. Hopefully, Cenk caught it before it went down and will do his own segment on it.

I get mad if someone messes with Cenk - I have huge respect for Mr. Uygur and how he thinks.

I'm sorry - I don't believe in name calling in general, but Jindal is a vapid tool.

My hope is that the only result from this is a positive one for Cenk, alone - perhaps by enlarging his audience, gaining him a bigger following... that would be cool. I'd be really happy if he had a show either before, after or between Olbermann and Maddows. Now that would be more than cool - that would be just fabulous... (not sure if he'd want to censure his language, though - he uses his expletives effectively).

Will definitely be checking the TYT website to see if he says anything about this...

18. Depressing.
The out-of-context stuff really works if you don't know how they've cheated.

The public needs to be so much smarter than it is in order to fend this stuff off.

19. The video is down, but I don't need to see it.
They rip off people, but part of their new rip off is perversion. Taking someone who was against them, and perverting it into something in favor of them.
But when you are dealing with a fruitcake idiot (well educated fool) who thinks he did an exorcism what would you expect.
OP (Cenk?) well done on your video, keep up the good work. Hopefully truth will prevail someday.

27. Jindal is a Pander Bear!
Being that he went to Brown and our (yes, I went there too) mascot is a Bear, I think it's fitting. His conservative credentials are just too perfect. Seeing him in that camouflage outfit nearly made me sick. And now that I have viewed Cenk's video again, I think he gives Jindal too much credit. That Pander Bear doesn't believe in exorcisms; he believes in what having "performed" one will get him: the base.

Even with ALL the other so-called documented cases of exorcisms I have heard about, I have rarely heard of any of the exorcists being in jeopardy of being taken over as well. This jerk off went down the list of things he's read about exorcisms and decided to claim all of these things which will make him "look" better to the nutso crowd ("I'm too Christian to be taken over by Satan, by golly!"). It's also a story to remove all doubt about his own Christianity, being that many may think him Hindu (although his base would guess Muslim, considering their ability to lump people together.)

These repigs are vile and I am far from surprised that he is "stealing" compliments to make himself look better.
