Story from yesterday

There was no doubt that on June 24, Ethan Parrish, armed with an assault rifle and 83-round drum clip, killed Taliaferro when Parrish opened fire on a car in which Taliaferro was a passenger. Ethan Parrish fired six shots. The first two struck the road but the next four struck the car, with one hitting Taliaferro in the head and another hitting Jones, then 15, in the back.

Jury recommends 11 year-sentence for Ethan Parrish in Powhatan slaying
http://www.timesdispatch.com/rtd/news/local/crime/article/POWH25_20090324-222612/240113/
A Powhatan County Circuit Court jury that found Ethan Parrish guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the slaying of Tahliek Taliaferro recommended yesterday that he receive the maximum sentence -- 10 years in prison.

The jury also recommended that Ethan Parrish, 25, serve 12 months for assault and battery. His cousin, Joseph "Joey" Parrish, 18, was convicted of the same charges on Monday, but because he was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, he will be sentenced by Judge Thomas V. Warren.

Calvin Taliaferro, a cousin of Tahliek, was disappointed by the racial makeup of the seven-man, five-woman jury, which included only one black member. But he said many in the county -- black and white -- are angry over the verdict.

"The whole thing is bogus," he said.

1. So the price of a human life is 11 years in Powhatan County.
Nice.

People today are pathetic.
