We and President Obama could be standing on the edge of something historical

I wasn't sure if this IMF global reserve currency thing could get legs, but it just might. At the CFR Secretary Geithner saying the US is open to the idea is the most promising thing yet. Of course the president had to backtrack us from the comments, we don't have this reserve currency yet. He does have to protect the dollar on the world market.

In 1945 it took WWII to spur the creation of the United Nations, maybe this is the silver lining of the global credit crunch. The SDR have been in place since the late 60's, it would take a while to turn them into a true world currency but at least we have a head start. Now we see if President Obama will have the courage to take the first step into world history.
