Have you ever tried pure fructose? We did in chemistry class. Yummy. No one is saying that fructose is all one should eat all day. I work out about four hours a week partially because I love my candy and like to chow down on those greasy ass french fries some times. It's the same as with alot of other things. People who use it irresponsibly spoil it for everyone else: Guns, Gambling, Video Games, Alcohol. You have a few cases of people wrecking themselves with it and immediately folks show up and want to take it away from everyone. Don't take away my fructose! If they outlaw fructose only outlaws will have fructose.
:9

edit: I think humans just need to evolve past getting carried away with stuff.

1. The problem lies in the preponderance of corn crops
...in order to supply manufacturers with both HFCS as well as biofuel. We're putting too many eggs in one basket.

4. HFCS is not ordinary fructose.
Edited on Thu Mar-26-09 09:48 AM by SPedigrees
It has been created using some sort of artificial process. Google it for the details. It no more resembles fructose than plastic resembles raw petroleum.

It's bad for ya. I haven't eaten anything with HFCS for at least 5 years.

GM corn is suspect as well. Corn oil behaves in a carcinogenic manner. Another food item to avoid whenever possible.

HFCS is not a sugar except in a very broad sense of the word. Sucrose is sugar and fructose is not sucrose. The obesity/diabetic era began with the contamination of our food supply with HFCS. Before the 1980s products were sweetened with sucrose/sugar. HFCS does not cause the spikes in insulin that sugar does.
