Many Law Enforcement Officials Outraged at Rally for Oakland Gunman

"ALAMEDA COUNTY (KRON) – Many law enforcement officials are openly expressing dismay that the public held a rally for gunman Lovelle Mixon in Oakland.

KRON 4’s Mark Jones spoke to Alameda County Sergeant J.D. Nelson who is outraged, “I just don’t understand how people in the community can support an individual, a criminal, who was a carjacker, who raped a 12-year-old and murdered four people. How people can rally behind him, I think it’s terrible, just terrible. Our hearts go out to the Oakland police department and to have people rally for that person who is responsible for their murder is disgusting.”

On Saturday Mixon opened fire on two officers during what appeared to be a routine traffic stop, leading to a gun fight in which two more officers died before police killed him."

wow... just... wow.

2. isn't the Uhuru Movement like the Black Westboro Baptist Church?
i.e. Just fundamentally psychotic, and taking any opportunity--no matter how tenuous to their supposed "cause"--to make asses of themselves and cause offense to all non-moronic and -psychotic people?

These were the same people who were routinely protesting Obama for being anti-Black, or some shit.

4. Uhuru Movement
The Uhuru Movement is a group of organizations under the principle of "African internationalism," or the liberation of Africans in both the continent of Africa and in the African diaspora. 'Uhuru' is a Swahili word for freedom. The Movement is led by Omali Yeshitela's African People's Socialist Party (APSP).

The APSP has formed several organizations, each with specific tasks and purpose. Affiliated organizations include The International People's Democratic Uhuru Movement, African Socialist International, African People's Solidarity Committee, and Burning Spear Productions, as well as others.

The organization came to national attention during the 2008 Presidential campaign season when a several Uhuru members interrupted a Barack Obama town hall meeting in St. Petersburg, Florida. They shouted slogans at Obama and held up a banner which read, "What about the Black Community, Obama?" Later during the meeting, Diop Olugbala, an organizer with the group, questioned the candidate and alleged that he was not speaking out for African-Americans on issues like police brutality, predatory lending, and Hurricane Katrina. The Uhuru Movement held a political rally outside the event to protest Obama.

5. INPDUM : Lovelle Mixon was "a true hero".
at 1:54 in the video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6QKcARdl2w

"Knowing the history of how the police treat Africans, Lovelle Mixon felt he had to defend himself in the face of the oppressive police state. And he did so, honorably. Like the missiles launched from Gaza and the Iraqi resistance forces, African people will rightfully fight to free themselves against oppression in every form."

Hoping others "take the stand" that Lovelle Mixon did. They're encouraging others in the community to kill police officers. Wow.

21. Yikes. The people behind this are either bat-shit crazy, or demagogues trying to incite violence
Or, possibly, both.

Of course, the fact that this is getting even a tiny bit of traction is indicative that there is a gigantic problem with relations between the police department and the citizenrey in Oakland, and I'm willing to concede that there is more than enough blame to go around for that.

7. Sounds like...
... the rally the Alabama workplace shooter should have had, except, goshdarnit, they "went from focusing hard on solving the shooter's motive to suddenly dropping the issue like a hot potato and running away from the scene of the crime, as if they didn't like what their investigation produced."

8. The following statement is perfectly clear!
I just don’t understand how people in the community can support an individual, a criminal, who was a carjacker, who raped a 12-year-old and murdered four people.

People in this country are fucked up! People need to get their heads out of their ass and start cleaning up this shit. Why on earth would anyone support a scum who did the above.

9. I'm not black.....
Edited on Fri Mar-27-09 05:08 AM by Postman
So I can only assume that it is seen by some in the black community as blowback on the police for years of perceived abuse. It doesn't matter who it is that did the killing of the cops.

When people feel they are powerless against perceived or real abuse they look for "heroes" wherever they can find them. The enemy of my enemy is my friend kind of thing.

I'm sure no one believes that raping a 12 year old is honorable and it's probably insincere on the part of the cops to try and link what this creep did to innocent people in the past with his crime of killing 4 cops. That is not why some people came out in support of this thug.

Remember that kid in the subway on New Year's Day? The one who was shot in the back while laying on the ground and was unarmed?

14. Yeah the cops ruined the reputations of all involved when they
mentioned he was a rapist. That really was unfair of the cops to be so insincere. They should have shown more respect and kept quiet about it. :sarcasm:

These scumbags had absolutely no problem disregarding anything he did in their efforts to make him out to be a martyr. The cops merely pointed that out as further proof of how insane these people are for glorifying his behavior. How could that possibly be inappropriate?

At the same time, they have opened themselves to the critiscism. This group probably wouldn't have gotten as much traction wothout the events earlier this year.

Phony report destroys sex case
Oakland Tribune , Dec 18, 2007 by Leslie Griffy

There was one major problem with the Santa Clara County crime lab report that implicated a San Jose man of sexual assault: It wasn't true.

The document was a fake, created by a San Jose police detective. The crime lab analyst who purportedly prepared the document doesn't exist. The number used to identify it was false.

Even so, detective Matthew Christian testified as though the phony report were authentic.

OAKLAND TO FIRE 11 COPS IN SEARCH WARRANT CASE

OAKLAND -- Oakland intends to fire 11 police officers for allegedly lying to obtain search warrants in drug cases, officials said Thursday.

The two sergeants and nine officers face dismissal in a scandal that has thrown into jeopardy the prosecutions of dozens of suspects. At least 12 have already had their cases dismissed because warrants that police used to obtain evidence were obtained on the basis of lies by officers, according to attorneys involved in the cases.

The officers told judges that substances seized from drug suspects had been identified by the Oakland police crime lab as narcotics when, in fact, they had not, authorities said. Those false statements were used to persuade judges to issue warrants that police relied on to gather more evidence.

26. This bastard had been terrorizing the BLACK community for years.
The 12-year-old girl this bastard raped was almost certainly black. The other women he is accused of raping probably were black also. I suspect the man he allegedly murdered over a debt probably was, too.

Uhuru thinks this bastard should be regarded as a hero of the black community, and that President Obama should not be? How many black women does a criminal like Mixon have to rape, and how many black men does he have to murder, before he loses his "hero" status?

I think the Westboro Baptist Church comparison is apt.
