Anti-suicide Fence paid by Stimulus called Wasteful Spending(OH)
One man jumped to his death off the All-America Bridge this year.

Two more used the Akron bridge — more commonly known as the Y-Bridge — to commit suicide in 2008.

Akron hopes to curtail future deaths on what has been dubbed ''Suicide Bridge'' by installing a fence.

The controversial fencing — some have been pushing for it, while others think it's a waste of money — was among the local projects the state approved Thursday for federal stimulus funds.

1. maybe I missed it
But I can't see anything in the article saying WHY it would be a waste of money.

Nothing saying it couldnt' save anyone. Or why the Bridge shouldn't be up to code for more modern bridges.

2. Cause in RW speak it only saves 1 or 2 lives a year
And if they wanted to commit suicide they were probably worthless any way. :sarcasm:

3. Definition of "wasteful spending"
If it doesn't buy death and destruction or give money to the rich, then it's wasteful spending.

7. It Is a Waste- Nobody Calls It That Either- We Still Call It the Y-Bridge
even after they changed the name to All America Bridge. One guy jumped twice after he survived the firs time. There's another bridge about a mile north- just as high that you could jump from too - and quite a few in the area also- so yeah its a big waste. Meanwhile the streets are full of gaping holes......
