Mitch McConnell tells hard-right Conservatives to "back off"
Oh wait, that would never happen would it?

What will it take for us to get this monkey named Harry Reid off our backs? Have we ever had a Senate Majority Leader that we despised more?

4. Are we just repeating these feelings among ourselves. . . or are we
passing them along to the administration?

And Pelosi/Reid -- and our Senators/Reps???

5. So how do we get rid of them?
Can the president fire them? Can the members of congress impeach them and hold a new election? I have wondered this for a long time. I am all for new faces in both the House and the Senate leadership, but how can it be done?

6. Good question . . . but I think it has to start with encouraging more to

think about this -- and to voice their opinions to elected officials.

Then, we're hitting the same stone wall we're hitting on many other issues . . .
from appointments to Single Payer Health Care --- from bailouts for corrupt/criminal
capitalism to failure to failure to overturn tax cuts for the rich immediately!!

The question is LEVERAGE over elected officials and how we get it --
Corporates/elites have LEVERAGE over the parts of government they buy -- over
the elected officials they buy. They do it with money and they make clear the results
they want -- many of them have participated in writing legislation -- and they make
sure that they get those results! And, basically, they're inside government now . ..
corporations have long had their own people put in charge of our government agencies.
making a mockery of the supposed mission of the agency as it is turned on its head!
Basically, this is bribery and shouldn't be permitted.

Since we don't have IRV and since third parties are a "no-no" at DU .... there is no
leverage because there is no where to go -- and elected officials realize that!
Basically, I'm sure very few Americans are even aware of the differences in platforms
among third parties vs Democrats and Republicans! It's quite an eye-opener!

We need to have public funding of campaigns -- and only public funding -- with
corporations barred from any participation whatsoever in our elections.
We also need the public to dictate where and when candidates appear -- and under
what circumstances. Vote on moderators, etc. Free TV and radio time.
AND HOW LONG THE CAMPAIGNS WILL LAST -- I'd say a maximum of 3 to 6 months.

We also need to get rid of electronic voting machines/computers -- Germany has just
found them Unconsitutional and basically we have never ending evidence of fraud and
hacking. These machines began to come in during the mid and late 1960's ....
around the time they passed the Voting Rights Act. I'm of the opinion that as soon
as they passed the voting legislation they went after larger vote steals over greater
distances. Therefore -- I'm saying that all of our elections from that time onward
are questionable.

Barring full scale revolution, we will not be able to stop the wars, get national
single payer health care, stop the bail out of criminal capitalism or, perhaps, most
importantly, get the true facts about Global Warming out .... AND, needless to say,
stop the military industrial intelligence complex without some of these things happening.

We can also turn from capitalism on our own -- stop using your check cashing card and
go back to checks if you can. The cards cost businesses from 3.5% up to 7%/American
Express and eventually those costs have to make their way back to the consumer.
Try to buy from small businesses in your town. Try to avoid large corporations.

Push for legalization of Marijuana -- otherwise we are simply strengthening criminal
element and increasing prison industry. Right now almost 1/3rd of Americans are in
our prisons, on parole, or on probation!!
Push for HEMP -- push for an end to the Drug War.

And, try hard to find even better solutions!!

:)

10. In the long run, of course it may not have.
But in the short run, it gave them George W. Bush for two terms and some choice Supreme Court nominations. Which are actually things they get to keep for a long time even if their party is in a shambles right now (something I don't actually feel is true, since they still control the media and much of the agenda due to their lockstep methods.) Also gave them many other things that can't be quickly or easily reversed by Democrats.
