CNN is really bad. One example is the airhead-sounding anchor on in mornings
(Frederica Whitfield). I read her bio and has a very good background and is apparently a hell of a lot smarter that the act the producer makes her play. She comes across as an adolescent with her "wows" and yukking it up as she tries to be cute with the "news".

3. but on weekend afternoons
we have prison documentaries on MSNBC, and Chris Hansen trapping pedophiles. I'm not sure what's worse.

Oh what to watch ...
If you have digital cable, check out the Science Channel, Green Channel, and National Geographic. Those are the only reason i'm holding on to my Comcast expanded service. There's some really really good stuff on those channels.

2. For me, I don't want the news to be "cute".
I want it to be factual (aka unbiased) and up-to-date. There are enough reality shows already if I want to be entertained. The dumbing-down of America continues. :grr:

4. except when Rachel does the news
She mixes cutesy and smart in her news. Some people find it a bit annoying, but i generally like her style. :)

6. i don't like how the female anchors are presented on cable news
There are some pretty sharp women anchors who can hold their own in tough interviews. It's a shame they're not allowed to be themselves on tv, and do real news coverage. Few weeks ago, i liked how Tamron Hall (MSNBC) challenged an idiot Repub. congressman spouting rubbish. Whitfield at CNN is pretty sharp but has to act dumb on the tee vee. So was Joie Chen, who used to be at CNN but has since disappeared. Monica Novotny on MSNBC did a good job as a reporter when she worked for Countown. And of course, there's Alison Stewart. Funny and smart, and escaped to NPR.

And don't get me started with the men.... sigh!

on right before Rick Sanchez, she makes me nuts. She's constantly laughing at everything. Totally hysterical.

11. BBC America if you have directv
Matt Frei and Katty Kay are intelligent anchors on their nightly news.

Link TV has Democracy Now.

If you're near the Canadian border and can pick up CBC news, that's good too.

13. Female anchors have gotten progressiveley worse
since Palin crawled out from under her rock. She injected all her little flirty mannerisms into the media and the women reporting on her got caught up in being too cute for words. I find it embarrassing and extremely unprofessional. But since they ain't callin' on me to host the news, I don't reckon' it makes a big friggin' difference.
