Is there ONE issue that is important enough
that you are willing to march or demonstrate for? What issue will get you out of your recliner to go do something more than sit and post at DU?

For me, its Single Payer Health Care
Even though I am employed and covered by my company, there are too many problems with the way insurance companies control this issue. I want it changed and I am willing to DO something to get it changed. What is YOUR issue?

1. Health Care that is not once again geared to enrich the Drug Companies
and Insurance Companies while giving the shaft to the American People.

3. For me, the environment.
I live on the desert. It's plenty hot enough here and water is already in short supply.
We've got to fight global weather change.

4. Sort of.
There are several I'm willing to march for.

I HAVE marched and demonstrated for peace, numerous times since the IWR was passed. And I did the same a generation earlier as a child, following my mother.

I'm willing to demonstrate for universal, single-payer, not-for-profit health care.

I'm willing to demonstrate for peace.

I'm willing to demonstrate for public education.

I live rurally these days, though. Any center of population large enough for an effective demonstration is many miles and hours away, and my budget does not extend to any extra tanks of gas.

5. Universal Healthcare
I don't want insurance companies to be involved with our nation's health EVER AGAIN. They are a cancer that is KILLING people NOW.

7. in the past it's been disarmament, anti-war and reproductive health... now, things have changed.
i think that in the past, my participation came with the understanding that we're doing "theater" to some extent. you know, this is a "show" of support. it was also a means to commune with like-minded people -- kind of as a ritual.

now, i think i'm more inclined to go out with intent... anger, even. my issue is corporatism. we have to reign in the banks and we have to regain control of healthcare. it's not academic or theater or ritual anymore. it's necessary.

8. Those are all good responses....
just got back from a local MoveOn.org meeting. Todays topic was the POWER UP campaign. We are going to try to get our local representative to consider helping the President with the greening of America. Its not going to be easy. He's a dyed-in-the-wool Repug.

9. I wish I could, I marched in D.C. against the war
And that was about it for what was left of my back. That and driving shockless taxis for two years. I can't walk a block now and I can't get help because, wait for it, no health insurance.

14. That is VERY important, but its also he can delegate
to an entire department of the government........if he would just do so. Is there an issue more important than this one to you?

16. Yes
Healthcare reform. I pay $1300/mo in insurance premiums for $5K deductible policy. My wife has had cancer and we can't get insurance anywhere else. Still have 7 yrs before Medicare kicks in.
