Torturing Democracy - Has anyone seen this?

It is an excellent, straightforward documentary about how the Bush administration, under Cheney's guidance, institutionalized torture. It also tells the story of the military lawyers, JAG officers, and interrogators who rebelled against the policy and tried to stop it. It is essential history for this issue and devastating in its conclusions.

1. Worth watching for sure

As is Taxi to the Darkside.

It's odd how Karimov (President of Uzbekistan) is rightly denounced for boiling people but somehow the torture program used against detainees like Binyam Mohamed is considered extremely effective, legal and patriotic.

We are told it wouldn't be fair to prosecute CIA interrogators because they presumed the program was legal. Yet we are also told it wouldn't be right to prosecute high ranking officials because that would be "criminalizing policy differences" and besides they too thought the torture was legal due to OLC opinions.

The question one must ask is why we trashed the rule of law and disgraced the country for the benefit of some criminal CIA officials, some criminal OLC lawyers and a criminal POTUS and VP.
