Monday is final hurdle for 199-foot tall cross in Bossier
church wants to build giant cross visible for miles, local governing body falls all over itself to give them an exemption from zoning laws. Situated on a hill, the total height will be 305 feet, taller than the Statue of Liberty.

1. Ha ha. Bossier City, home of Sak's Boom-Boom Room, where a teenager from East Texas could get
a drink if he could put his money up on the bar. This cross business seems somehow fitting.

2. The Bossier Strip had some bad mofos
Sam Giancana sent some henchmen down to scope out the feasibility of muscling in on the Bossier action, and ultimately decided he didn't want any part of those guys.

11. Seems Like Such a Structure Would Attract Lighting

Would the insurance company call it an "act of God" and refuse to pay?

5. Can it double as a cell phone tower?
At least then it would serve a purpose.

7. I am so .... mean.
I'd laugh my ass off if the first hurricane the thing experiences makes it go flying.

Gee, so much for that Biblical exhortation to pray humbly, quietly and so forth....guess that "puffed up" shit doesn't always apply?

Then, I hope some Buddhist temple decides to build a two hundred foot tall fat, laughing Buddha, just because the revised ordinance allows it.

What a bunch of idiots. Seven hundred grand for a frigging cross? Please.

9. Oh, and BTW, it's five miles from Barksdale AFB
and exactly one foot shorter than the maximum height allowed in flight paths by the FAA. So much for supporting the troops.
