The ignorance of the Tea Party participants is glaring
They are CLUELESS as to the problems America faces.

The “Commando” Rochester Tea Party

On a cold and very blustery day, approximately 40 concerned citizens met at a downtown Rochester, NY park on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, to participate in our local version of the Tea Parties that have been sweeping the nation! NY Governor Paterson was here for a “town hall” meeting at the Rochester Convention Center and the decision was made nine days prior that with the Governor in town, March 11 would be present a great opportunity to not only protest the Porkulus Package, but also the crushing tax burden that New York State inflicts on its citizens. Word of the Rochester Tea Party was spread via blogs on the Internet, most notably, Patriots For America, Gathering of Eagles: NY, North Shore Journal and RochesterWatch, hence the “Commando” in the title and we just showed up and did it!

I consider the inaugural and “commando” Rochester Tea Party a success. Although we didn’t attract the big crowds that other Tea Parties did, those who did show up are all dedicated Patriots willing to take the next step for a larger Tea Party in the future, this time with advance billing in the media as well as on the blogs. What was nice about it with the smaller crowd was it was easy to meet people and turned out to be a great networking opportunity! I made a lot of new friends and we were all in agreement that this was something that we can build upon.

One, at least they are gathered in one place so that they are known to law enforcement. Two, they have NOTHING to protest, because it appears NONE of them are as destitute as the rest of the American unemployed middle class.

The site is a hoot.

3. They're getting tax cuts
after handing their payroll taxes over to the wealthy for the last 8 years - and they still don't get it.

Maybe I oughta find me one of these groups and help them find the humor in tea bags and where their heads are currently located.

6. Hmm, maybe it is a good analogy then
Since the actual tea party was partially in response to a tax cut on the east India company's importation of tea to the colonies, I figured these yahoos just didn't know history. I mean, tax cuts for big business are what they like, right? So why would they be emulating a protest of tax cuts for big companies? But since they're now getting tax cuts, well, maybe they just don't like tax cuts and they've had us all fooled!

5. It isn't just ignorance.
Early in the history of the Truthiness Encyclopedia, we tried to come up with a mascot.

I suggested that we use this familiar image:

And the story of the Truthiness Monkeys was born.

I bring this up because we had to figure out names for them, we decided on: "Ignorance," "Obedience" and "Fear."

That's why I say it's not just ignorance, we have two more monkeys to go.

Far away from where anybody important might see them.

9. If there's a city in New York more in need of stimulus money than Rochester
I'd be surprised. Maybe instead of parroting Heritage Foundation pseudo-populist talking points, these folks might want to walk around town and see what 3 decades of Reaganite "fiscal conservatism" have wrought.

10. None look like they may be long-term unemployed or destitute...as yet.
But they also don't look like wage earners making a quarter million or more annually, either.

Maybe those who do are hiring these people as surrogates for the Tea Party protests, since people who would make that kind of money or even more would rather spend their free time golfing or something, one would think. Might be an opportunity for unemployed people to lease themselves out as conservative stand-ins for the upper middle-class and the wealthy by the hour, with hand-designed posters costing extra, based on creative ability and fancy artwork.

11. What ticked me off
Was how these tea party vultures gathered down in Cedar Rapids to bitch about how the taxes being raised to help with flood recovery. The state wouldn't let them dump tea into the Cedar River so I believe it was river water. All while the ringleaders were going on about how they were sympathetic to the people who had been displaced by the floods. Give me a f--king break.

15. I call them the 'I, Me, My' group
When I drove by their protest here, nearly all of their signs had "I", "Me" or "My".

WHERE IS MY STIMULUS

IWANT TO STOP PAYING MY MORTGAGE

WILL MY GOVERNMENT BAIL ME OUT

It's all about THEM and how they are affected by this. They don't care if we spend $720 million a day killing people in the middle east, cause it doesn't affect THEM.
