Is there any gold inside Fort Knox?

It is said to be the most impregnable vault on Earth: built out of granite, sealed behind a 22-tonne door, located on a US military base and watched over day and night by army units with tanks, heavy artillery and Apache helicopter gunships at their disposal.

Since its construction in 1937 the treasures locked inside Fort Knox have included the US Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address, three volumes of the Gutenberg Bible and Magna Carta

-snip-

They are worried that no independent auditors appear to have had access to the reported $137 billion (£96 billion) stockpile of brick-shaped gold bars in Fort Knox since the era of President Eisenhower. After the risky trading activities at supposedly safe institutions such as AIG they want to be reassured that the gold reserves are still the exclusive property of the US and have not been used to fund risky transactions.

I've often wondered how deep the bushco plundering went...

21. He's Dutch.
Best line in the movie:

There's only two things I can't stand in this world. Those who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

2. Didn't Bush sell a bunch of the Fort Knox gold a couple of years ago?
Bush and his cronies took everything that wasn't tied down, including the looting of the treasury.

I seriously doubt it. They probably lined their toilets with it so they would have somewhere to shit and wipe their asses with the Constitution.

...

A New York periodical publishes an article claiming that the Rockefeller family were manipulating the Federal Reserve for the purpose of selling off Fort Knox gold at bargain basement prices to anonymous European speculators. 3 days after the publication of this story, its anonymous source, long time secretary to Nelson Rockefeller, Louise Auchincloss Boyer, mysteriously fell to her death from the window of her ten storey apartment block in New York.

29. LOLOL
48 B.C. Julius Caesar took back from the money changers the power to coin money and then minted coins for the benefit of all. With this new, plentiful supply of money, he established many massive construction projects and built great public works. By making money plentiful, Caesar won the love of the common people.
But the money changers hated him for it and this is why Caesar was assassinated. Immediately after his assassination came the demise of plentiful money in Rome, taxes increased, as did corruption.

Eventually the Roman money supply was reduced by 90 per cent, which resulted in the common people losing their lands and homes.

30 A.D. Jesus Christ in the last year of his life uses physical force to throw the money changers out of the temple. This was the only time during the the life of his ministry in which he used physical force against anyone.
When Jews came to Jerusalem to pay their Temple tax, they could only pay it with a special coin, the half-shekel. This was a half-ounce of pure silver, about the size of a quarter. It was the only coin at that time which was pure silver and of assured weight, without the image of a pagan Emperor, and therefore to the Jews it was the only coin acceptable to God.

Unfortunately these coins were not plentiful, the money changers had cornered the market on them, and so they raised the price of them to whatever the market could bear. They used their monopoly they had on these coins to make exorbitant profits, forcing the Jews to pay whatever these money changers demanded.

Jesus threw the money changers out as their monopoly on these coins totally violated the sanctity of God's house. These money changers called for his death days later.

1024 The money changers had control of Medieval England's money supply

Oh yeah, this is a real serious work of scholarship.

17. No. The gold was removed a VERY long time ago.
The vaults haven't even been opened in decades;
at this point, it would be surprising if anyone
guarding them even knows HOW to open them.

24. The same reason they maintain that old SacNorad base that they give PUBLIC TOURS of 3 times a day...
Edited on Sun Mar-29-09 10:24 PM by Richard Steele
Theater. POLITICAL theater.

Keeping a gullible public living in a complacent fantasy world,
maintaining the ridiculous delusion that a few hundred-ton steel doors
here and there somehow make our entire nation a safer place.

Even if Knox really -DID- still hold 4000 tons of gold, that gold would
be worth a small percentage of the IOU's that the USA owes to China.

The world doesn't run on precious metal, and it hasn't for generations.
The world runs on AGREEMENTS, and agreements distill down to pure INFORMATION.

Everything from the Stone Age to the Industrial Age is HISTORY now...
We live in the INFORMATION age.

To the people who actually CONTROL this planet,
gold bricks are useful as doorstops, and valuable as historical relics
of an age long past.

25. My son-in-law is second or third in command at the Gold Depository at Fort Knox. He has
been there almost 20 years. He swears there is gold, he has seen it, that it is audited and every single gram is accounted for on a regular basis. Now if this is the company line, I don't know, but I do know he takes his job VERY, VERY seriously.

There are also plenty of valuables\ items in the facility besides just gold but I haven't a clue what they are - think Discovery or the History channel did a special a few years back. You can easily see the Gold Vault from the highway but don't get any ideas about stopping your car and taking a picture. And trying to get over the fence to say you have been on the grounds is an extremely bad idea.

I haven't personally seen the gold but there are plenty of employees who swear that it is there. And that is all they will say - my SIL will not talk about security, the building, etc. in any way.

22. Here's a video from 1974
Some journalists and Congressmen went to Fort Knox and got to see the gold to combat a rumor that Fort Knox was empty. No actual audit but there were enough gold bricks to build a house.

Now? Who knows? Maybe it's time to look again and dust for Cheney's fingerprints if anything is missing.

23. I believe it's in the basement of the NY Fed.
There's tons of gold in the basement of the NY Fed, gold held by various countries. When international banks make transfers, they move gold between sections of the vault.

34. I always thought the * assholes would steal the gold given the chance.
A spokesman for the US Treasury told The Times that US gold holdings are audited every year by the Department of Treasury's Office of Inspector General. He confirmed that although independent auditors oversee the process they are not given access to the Fort Knox vault.

So, these so-called independent auditors don't actually see the gold with their own eyes? Do they just look at spreadsheets?

If the * cabal appointed the treasury guy, it's fucking gone. They probably looted other countries' gold, too.
