All my lefty heroes (William Greider, John Michael Greer, Mike Davis come to mind) are saying this is not the way to go. That we are helping corporations over people and ***actualizing*** the idea of a corporate state.

Too big to fail needs to fail because if it's too big to fail, it's too big to exist in the first place. There are other ways to do this. We could, for example, give money to solvent, smaller banks to buy the assets of the insolvent banks and let the bad banks die. There are many solutions that are better for the citizens of this country (as opposed to the moneyed elite).

We are at the end of an era (and that's not just a figure of speech). Things can't continue the way they have been, and yet president Obama has decided that we must try to resurrect that which will inevitably fall again, and long before we've paid for these screwups.

We can't institutionalize "too big to fail". It will create a privileged corporate class that will meld inextricably with government.

I truly hate to disagree with MY president, but he hasn't got this right.
