In the last thirty years America has been steered so far to the right that what is considered middle of the road would have been considered far right in 1980, before Reagan. While I do agree that America did not become so far right overnight (more like three decades)it will not be Left leaning anytime soon. I understand Obama's deep desire to Unite ALL Americans and I would love for that to be possible. I have great reservations though and do feel that continuing to accept much of this right wing viewpoint is not beneficial to the nation whether Republican or Democrat. My desire is to witness change back to a Liberal point of view before I die and I am in my mid sixties. Is that really too much to ask? In this era of instant news cycles I have a tendency to want instant change. I know it is not realistic but it is my deepest desire and I feel Obama is thinking he has lots of time to make things happen. I don't have lots of time though and I get disappointed frequently in the pace of change. I want the occupations to be over with and the people of America to come first, not last, as has been the case for many decades now..I understand we are far better off than if McCain had ended up in charge but I think we deserve more. I think Obama will go down in History as one of the greatest Presidents America has ever had but I think the people will have to force him into doing many things that he will drag his feet on. I think it is essential that people speak up and be critical when there is a good case for it and be generous with praise when it is merited as well. So far those that won't tolerate any criticism of Obama, I think they are actually hurting our cause. Question Authority and hold their feet to the fire because it is always easier to take the path of least resistance.
