Official unemployment rate in FL tops 9.4%

Actual unemployment is probably more like 13%.

Officially almost 1 in 10 Floridians is unemployed now - realistically more than 1 in 8 are.

Meanwhile the Republican led legislature in Tally is screwing around and has done practically nothing to solve our budget shortfall or our unemployment crisis or our housing foreclosure crisis or the medically uninsured crisis (>25% of Floridians uninsured) or our education crisis (budget shortfalls and 49th per capita funding nationwide out of 50).

I'm one of those unemployed Floridians. I may end up going up to Atlanta for 3 months on a contract where I used to live and work in the 90's if it works out. Hopefully I'll get the NASA KSC job or the pollution monitoring software job that I've been trying to get instead so that I don't have to leave.

a report I heard on the radio last week. Of course that's the statewide rate -- some areas are much higher.
