Republicans disenfranchise State of Minnesota from the Senate
Senator Norm Coleman is continuing his battle in the Minnesota courts to try to reclaim the vote-count lead from former (very nasty and unfunny) comedian and Democrat challenger Al Franken. But things look quite grim for Coleman’s prospects in front of both the current 3-judge appeals panel and the Minnesota Supreme Court. Coleman has been threatening for some time to continue the fight into the federal courts, hoping to use the internally-disavowed Bush v Gore precedent to pull out a win. And Republicans in the Senate are threatening all-out political war if Democrats try to short-circuit a potentially lengthy legal process.

Texas Sen. John Cornyn is threatening “World War III” if Democrats try to seat Al Franken in the Senate before Norm Coleman can pursue his case through the federal courts.

Cornyn, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, acknowledges that a federal challenge to November’s elections could take “years” to resolve. But he’s adamant that Coleman deserves that chance — even if it means Minnesota is short a senator for the duration.

Your guy doesn't win, so you cripple Minnesota's part in our representative Democracy? Stay classy, Republicans.
