Did MSNBC Choose A Host For The 10pm EST Slot?
Yes, but it's a bit anticlimactic.

Apparently MSNBC is sticking with the Olbermann repeat at 10pm EST, at least for now . MSNBC execs were surprised by the strong numbers the repeat is having Vs. Fox and CNN, and it doesn't cost them anything to air it.

Obviously fans of Ed Schultz, Cenk, Sam Seder (and many others) are disappointed. As are the people who voted on this from February (only 2% of voters chose the Olbermann repeat over various hosts).

MSNBC president Phil Griffin had said it could be several months, maybe even 2010, before they chose a new show host. Time will tell if this is still part of the original plan, or if they've pretty much scrapped the idea of a new show altogether.

1. 2010?
Well, that's a bit disheartening. :(

7. I know, I wanted Cenk!!!
Funny, smart and not afraid to go after both sides when necessary. Too much truth for TV I guess!

2. They're going with what works. Sometimes, it's nice to be able to
see KO at the later time for me.

And no one wants to spend more money now.

8. I agree (for now)
I have classes at night and I often get home just in time to catch Rachel's show. It's nice to know that I won't miss Keith's show with my schedule.

9. We've cut some expenses but decided to spend $10 a month for DVR.
You know, like the generic version of TIVO. That way we record shows (and pause, rewind and fast forward through commercials). But in these times $10 means a lot for some, I know that.

3. Keith's show airs at 5:00 on the west coast.
A lot of people are just coming home from work then, so the replay works great for them. I'd like to see more people with brains on TV news in general, not just on MSNBC, so let's hope they can make it happen one way or another.

4. I suggest a very intense 1-hour panel talk program with Lou Reed
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 09:55 PM by saltpoint
as host.

Politics on some nights but most nights, scrutinous looks at U.S. cultural life.

Guests for the first month launch might include Laurie Andrson, Patti Smith, Gore Vidal, a Poe scholar of Lou's choice, Adrienne Rich, Vanessa Redgrave, Michelle Obama, and so forth.

A split-screen presentation would be most effective, with Lou and guest discussing say, the legalization of marijuana or the legalization of prostitution on one side and a viewers' blog on the other, responding to comments.

It would need a title, of course. Possibly "The Wild Side With Lou Reed."

Or possibly, "Rebel Angels."

5. I wish they would re-run 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue at 10 PM
Schuster is doing such a good job and they do not re-run his shows at all. Instead we get Tweety far too many times.

While I like having repeat access to Olbermann and Madow, they could repeat at 11 and midnight. Then just re-run Hardball, 1600, Olbermann, and Madow all over again, which would take them to their early morning news show.

6. MSNBC
Who actually tunes in to this idiot cable show. We have the morning nitwits, joe & Mika (who by the way is a model wannabe), the other idiot Willie, the goofball who gives the update on Hollywood? and at the end of this mess, they try to figure out what they've learned. Many of us have learned that we don't care to watch this drivel any longer.
