Obama will be called on the carpet in Europe...
Most of the nations over there love him. He is such a refreshing change from the previous Administration. However, many of those countries are socialistic. They have a grudging respect for capitalism but they don't worship it above all else. They cannot understand Obama's position with the auto companies as opposed to the big banks. They do not have the same respect for the banks that Obama and Geithner seem to have. They do not buy into the same argument that the world will collapse if AIG goes bankrupt or if several of the big investment firms go bankrupt. You play with fire, you get burned. And the new President will witness a different philosophy of the financial world when he steps off the plane in Europe...

12. Funny how you can't criticize what I say without making it seem like I don't believe
Obama can do any wrong. I've criticized him on several things but praised him on many things as well, unlike many of his critics here. I happen to think that Obama is a master politician like FDR and JFK and he will make a big hit in Europe. I think you need to learn how to make a counter argument without making assumptions about posters (people) you don't know.

Can we not think for ourselves sometimes?? Must we always have a link to MSM? Think about it.

29. Thanks, but we can think for ourselves.
We're very happy that you're no longer led by a moron, but unlike many here we don't think Obama's the Second Coming.

4. On the contrary
It is (mostly uninformed) Americans who don't understand and fear socialism. The Europeans are much more knowledgeable about socialism and capitalism than we are.

I think they have a huge respect for Obama, most probably more than many Americans.

13. I think so...
That is the impression that I have from what I have read. However, they like Obama personally. They are having difficulty understanding his whole-hearted support for Wall Street.

18. Sorry, I think you're wrong. Americans are stupid, Europeans are not so much.
Our geographically huge country is filled with assholes who can't or won't see beyond their county lines, they are fed tons of bullshit and fall for most of it, then go out and buy the latest Chinese piece of shit an wonder why they don't have two pennies to rub together.

Europe, by contrast, has a much longer history and experience with good times and bad and more interaction with other cultures and are, IMO, generally more worldly and open minded.

We look to many there like the assholes we are.

Obama is loved in Europe, they understand better than most here what a breath of fresh air the new president is.

20. Which European countries are socialist?
Most of what Americans refer to as 'socialist countries' are merely run by social-democrats. I'm sure none of them see themselves as 'socialist'.

22. Really.

They are capitalist economies with superior social safety nets, nothing more. And their capitalist are slowly but surely regaining their ascendancy, no doubt looking across the Atlantic. Such is the danger of 'mixed economies', as long as the the capitalist has the power he will use it to further his profits.
