Cesar Chavez Day Programming, Tuesday March 31, 10am- 6pm.

KXCI, 91.3-FM, Tucson's community radio station, will devote seven
hours of its programming day, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., to celebrate
César E. Chávez Day, Tuesday, March 31, 2009. In addition the programming will
honor Chicana activist and student leader, the late Consuelo Aguilar.

Chicano Connection host Bobby Diaz will begin the day with a music
mix from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by Democracy Now!

Justin Enriquez of La Serenata will continue the homage from 1 to 3 p.m.,
including a live musical performance.

Onda Suave's Neto Portillo Jr. will complete the special program
during the Home Stretch from 3 to 6 p.m. with music and live interviews.

Community voices will pay tribute to Chavez's leadership in the gains
made in labor and human rights, as well as focus attention on the
continuing struggle of workers, students and immigrants.

Chavez was born in Arizona on March 31, 1927 in Arizona near Yuma and
died on April 23, 1993, not far from where he was born.

Consuelo Aguilar was a young Chicana warrior who died Feb. 17. She
would have been 27 on April 5.

Please tune in March 31 for César E. Chávez Day on KXCI, 91.3-FM,
Tucson's community radio. Or listen live at www.kxci.org

2. Needs to be a federal holiday. It could replace so-called labor day.
Make it a true pro-labor day.
