''Netanyahu's Ultimatum To Obama'': How dare He ????
In an interview conducted shortly before he was sworn in today as prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu laid down a challenge for Barack Obama. The American president, he said, must stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—and quickly—or an imperiled Israel may be forced to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities itself.

“The Obama presidency has two great missions: fixing the economy, and preventing Iran from gaining nuclear weapons,” Netanyahu told me. He said the Iranian nuclear challenge represents a “hinge of history” and added that “Western civilization” will have failed if Iran is allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

He want to fix the agenda of Obama.....I think I will have to avoid everithing that can concerne this ass-hole, before I become totally against Israel.

1. I'd suggest that he should consider it, but
only if Israel signs the Nuclear Non-Proliferation treaty and allows UN inspectors into their facilities.

5. Yes. Here is a good description of his ties w the neocons for those unfamiliar:
The neoconservatives have had Iran in their sights for more than a decade. On July 8, 1996, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's newly elected prime minister and the leader of its right-wing Likud Party, paid a visit to the neoconservative luminary Richard Perle in Washington, D.C. The subject of their meeting was a policy paper that Perle and other analysts had written for an Israeli-American think tank, the Institute for Advanced Strategic Political Studies. Titled "A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm," the paper contained the kernel of a breathtakingly radical vision for a new Middle East. By waging wars against Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon, the paper asserted, Israel and the U.S. could stabilize the region. Later, the neoconservatives argued that this policy could democratize the Middle East.

"It was the beginning of thought," says Meyrav Wurmser, an Israeli-American policy expert, who co-signed the paper with her husband, David Wurmser, now a top Middle East adviser to Dick Cheney. Other signers included Perle and Douglas Feith, the undersecretary of defense for policy during George W. Bush's first term. "It was the seeds of a new vision."

Netanyahu certainly seemed to think so. Two days after meeting with Perle, the prime minister addressed a joint session of Congress with a speech that borrowed from "A Clean Break." He called for the "democratization" of terrorist states in the Middle East and warned that peaceful means might not be sufficient. War might be unavoidable.

Netanyahu also made one significant addition to "A Clean Break." The paper's authors were concerned primarily with Syria and Saddam Hussein's Iraq, but Netanyahu saw a greater threat elsewhere. "The most dangerous of these regimes is Iran," he said.

Without aid, he certainly wouldn't consult the US when deciding a course of action.

For example, after the surprise attack in 1973, the Israeli forces were able to cut off and surround Egypt's Third Army. Lucky for them, the US got Israel to let them go.

all that info about Cheney talking to Netanyahu was a leak from a Cheney minion. It's a setup to put Obama on the spot. Now he's upping the ante, and it sounds just like the 2 of them. So now you aren't only spreading bullshit propaganda about Israel, now you are spreading it about me? LOL! By all means, demonstrate with my own words where I am "pleased with Israel controlling the US." (This is will be impossible because I can't be pleased about something that doesn't exist.) As for my 'lack of surprise about the new PM deciding Obama's agenda' it may be because I don't think he is dictating Obama's agenda...that is YOUR belief. I am a registered Democrat who voted for Obama and is well aware of the politics of my nation much better than you. Also, you might want to steer clear of personal attacks as they are against the rules of DU. Your logic could use some tuning; just because I don't swallow the bullshit lie of "Israel runs the US" doesn't mean I am a republican.

Well, okay, being called a Republican is considerably worse, but still, it would be nice if you could steer clear of personal attacks yourself. There must be a way to educate people, if that is indeed your aim, without the relentless name-calling.

77. The majority of the world certainly does NOT think that Israel runs the US!
And that includes most people with a negative view of Israel, the US or both. (There are exceptions, but they are generally thought to be paranoid or worse.)

To give just one example, Hugo Chavez, in a recent anti-Israel statement, made it clear that he thought that Israel is subservient to America. Others think that America and its allies operate in tandem.

America is much bigger than Israel AND holds the purse-strings - how could Israel be running it?!

Do you also think that the UK runs the US? The relationship is similar, except that we are less financially dependent, but even closer in terms of a military alliance that has lasted for longer.

72. What's the point? It'll only go "poof" with the rest of the subthread.
I don't expect to be able to change your mind.

73. So you have decided to get in an insult before the delete?
Classy.

You're right about not changing my mind, I have seen your propaganda-laden posts, I don't take that as "proof."

Hope so anyway!

ETA: I just learned that a recent Israeli poll shows that 54% of Israelis are already dissatisfied with their new government, and that's before it's even properly taken office!

Netanyahu is a nut, but I doubt he'll last long.

83. I sincerely hope you're right about his political career.
Netanyahu is a huge impediment to any type of peace in the Middle East. His views are so extreme that he will not even voice support for a Palestinian state. He supported ongoing expansion of settlements in the West Bank and during the campaign he said he did not support peace talks with the Palestinians.

I can see nothing but a further deterioration of stability in an already volatile region of the world with Netanyahu as prime minister. He was viewed as a failure when he was prime minister from '96 through '99, had a reportedly rocky relationship with the Clinton administration. I'm sure that Hillary is well aware of Bibi's history with her husband.

Clinton didn't like Netanyahu and once said, "Who the fuck does he think he is? Who's the fucking superpower here?" after a meeting with him.

Clinton Whitehouse spokesman Joe Lockhart described him as "one of the most obnoxious individuals you're going to come into - just a liar and a cheat. He could open his mouth and you could have no confidence that anything that came out of it was the truth."

Not exactly a glowing endorsement of Netanyahu as a partner for peace.
