I think Cheney's stayed here in the DC area, building a big new house not far from CIA headquarters in McLean, because he really is still very tied in with the government, having left behind a lot of his own people. No other VP ever stayed here after his tenure.

I also think - and maybe I'm nuts - that he's in cahoots with any number of terrorist organizations who will hit the US again, a la 9/11, and Cheney's simply watching out for Halliburton's interests. That's what I think his recent public appearances have been about - he's warning Obama, in the hope that he'll look like a really prescient leader.

For me, I'll be trying to watch when he and the lovely Lynne are out of town...............

3. I think it could be the opposite.

I think he may be afraid that the Obama Administration *will* indeed investigate him, and he's trying to build a defense.
