Michael Moore Stalking Lawmakers On Capitol Hill

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore has spent the last two days on Capitol Hill buttonholing members of Congress and quizzing them on their banking-sector bailout votes.

He was spotted at a hearing of the Senate Financial Services Committee Tuesday morning, seated behind TARP watchdog Elizabeth Warren -- baseball cap and all.

He spent the rest of the afternoon wielding his camera in the Dirksen senate office building, looking for members to go on the record.

On Monday, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio) invited him into the Capitol, where he filmed a sit-down interview with her on the bailout, said a Kaptur aide. He is currently filming an interview with Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the member of Congress who has been bird-dogging AIG closer than any other since the insurance giant was first seized.

Details are still scarce about the Oscar-winning filmmaker's next project, but here's a preview from Moore's piece on the Huffington Post last month:

I am in the middle of shooting my next movie and I am looking for a few brave people who work on Wall Street or in the financial industry to come forward and share with me what they know. Based on those who have already contacted me, I believe there are a number of you who know "the real deal" about the abuses that have been happening. You have information that the American people need to hear. I am humbly asking you for a moment of courage, to be a hero and help me expose the biggest swindle in American history.

All correspondence with me will be kept confidential. Your identity will be protected and you will decide to what extent you wish to participate in telling the greatest crime story ever told.

The important thing here is for you to step up as an American and do your duty of shedding some light on this financial collapse. A few good people have already come forward, which leads me to believe there are many more of you out there who know what's going on. Here's your chance to let your fellow citizens in on the truth.

1. Think people are angry now?
Wait until they get to see footage of congress members clinking cocktail glasses with the banking snobs they so blithely passed out hundreds of billions of our dollars to.

5. This must be a foreign concept to today's "journalists"
It's so much easier to be stenographer for GOP talking points.

9. Indeed, to think a fellow's doing legwork
instead of reading from TMZ and saying it's the news!

11. Yeah, that jumped out at me, too
I hate to break it to the Bulldogs of the Fourth Estate, but having your documentary film crew along as you ask congress critters whether they'll submit to an interview isn't "stalking." If you want to see what "stalking" looks like, take a gander at your "journalistic" colleague Bill O'Reilly and his Ambush Crew.

4. Gotta love Michael Moore
I met him, many years ago, when he was with a home town underground newspaper, "The Flint Voice" and was lucky enough to meet up, again, a couple of years ago, when we (Genesee County Progressive Democrats) gave him the Paul Wellstone Award. He is a very thoughtful, nice, and so very humble man who never forgot who or where he came from.

6. Yep, Wall Street. Cash in. Retire. And, spill your guts to Moore. Do the
American thing and clear your conscience.
