Colbert weeps for Glenn Beck's sanity
'Glenn Beck of Fox News astonished many viewers recently when he repeatedly reduced himself to tears while announcing his "9.12 Project" to save the nation.

However, Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert expressed only pleasure with Beck's performance.

"My Glenn Beck fantasy came true," Colbert announced on Tuesday. "The fantasy where a hysterical Glenn Beck tells his audience of desperate shut-ins through tears and spittle that vague unnamed enemies have failed them and that it's time to take angry action."

"Are you ready to be that person that you were that day after 9/11?" Beck tearfully asked his audience.

Colbert helpfully explained that Beck is attempting to get us to move "beyond the fear we felt on 9/11 to the compassion we felt on 9/12. And hopefully, we'll all eventually get to the way Glenn felt on 9/9 of 2005."

On that date, Beck said, "You know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims' families. ... When I see a 9/11 victim family on television of whatever, I'm just like, 'Oh, shut up!' I'm so sick of them because they're always complaining."

"Good point!" Colbert exclaimed, as his audience gasped in shock. "The 9.12 Project is not for families directly affected by 9/11 -- just people building their careers on it."'

2. Colbert has been my hero since the WH Press Correspondents' Dinner
We get more fact checking from TDS and Colbert than the rest of the so-called liberal media put together.

5. Boy, do you have that right!
I've been in DC since 1973, and I have NEVER seen anything like that.

Plus, Helen Thomas appeared in his video during that routine. Remember?

At that, I fell in love, and remained totally smitten. Those two shows - plus KO and Rachel - are the news for me.

Colbert and Stewart have balls. Great big ones........

10. It was brilliant
Colbert lent voice to the frustrations of over half of the nation that was disgusted with the Bushies.

People that were offended really should have checked out one of the press dinners from one of the previous years where Bush showed a video of him wandering around the White House looking for weapons of mass destruction.

12. Here's the most astonishing part - in my opinion -
he did it with Fuckface SITTING RIGHT THERE!

Anyone could have done that routine in the safety of a TV studio, but Colbert - he of the big brass ones - did it where he became the target. That's about the gutsiest thing I've ever seen anyone do, short of taking a physical risk to help another person.

He's smart, he's got brilliant writers, but he is also a very talented actor/singer/dancer - and all those things make him a real force in our culture.

That "Where Are The WMDs?" video was probably just the thing the families of the dead soldiers wanted to see - you know, to take their minds off the reality that their kid died for no good reason at all.

It seems that the longer Fuckface is gone, the worse it all seems. Like a bad dream that's even scarier when you remember it upon waking ............................

14. Too true
On all counts.

Bush's legacy will seem worse and worse until he dies at which point he will get teh Nixon euology treatment. Or he might be cannonized by the republican party al'a Reagan.

18. It was art.
An absolutely fantastic performance! I thought at one point boosh had a "Did he say what I think he said?" look on his face. Later, when there was no question that Colbert was skewering him, he was pissed!

The backwash! :applause:

6. When Colbert stood up
wearing the gas mask and diaper, brandishing a rifle, I just about died laughing.

He's one of a kind - a smart hero.

Think he'll end up at the White House anytime soon?

I wonder...

16. One of the funnier TV moments I've ever seen...
the timing, the visual...

Colbert is to Beck what Olbermann is to Billo.

19. Colbert at his best, yes, almost too fucking spot-the-fuck-on but for that fact...
that Beck is a sobbing, whimpering mess of a train wreck that actually thinks he has something to say
