Officials: Man Shocked With Taser Dies
Deputies Say Man Had Been Running In, Out Of Traffic
TAMARAC, Fla. -- A man who was shocked with a Taser gun has died in the hospital, authorities said.
Investigators are looking into whether the man was on drugs when he was running in and out of traffic on Tuesday.
The man's name and age were not immediately known.
The sheriff's office said a deputy used a Taser gun to subdue the man when he resisted arrest. His condition deteriorated and paramedics used CPR to keep him stable. Officials think the man may have been intoxicated.
He was pronounced dead early Wednesday.
Authorities said an autopsy revealed no trauma or injuries other than minor scratches and Taser marks on his right side, and that his symptoms were consistent with excited delirium and cocaine toxicity.
