DSCC petition: "Time to give it up, Norm"
@ 12:28 pm by Eric Zimmermann

The DSCC has launched an online petition urging Norm Coleman to give up his legal battle in Minnesota. The petition comes a few days after a Minnesota court ruled that only 400 additional absentee ballots could be counted, making it nearly impossible for Coleman to overcome his 225 vote deficit.

“After a grueling election, a statewide ballot-by-ballot recount, and more than 7 weeks in court, Al Franken will be declared the winner of the U.S. Senate race in Minnesota—again, " the petition says. "But Norm Coleman just won’t acknowledge is’t over. His lawyers say he’s going to appeal—again.”

Petition here and it needs signatures:

2. It's wrong to present him with a petition
The main reason for his behavior is to "SHOW THEM" and a petition would just be confirmation
of his success in doing that. We shouldn't give him the satisfaction of knowing that he was
pissing off thousands of dems.

3. There's no downside for Coleman to continue, though
As long as the case drags along, he doesn't lose. It's like a stalemate in chess, and the half point his opponent would gain from the stalemate would win the match. So Norm keeps moving his king around the board, futilely chased by his opponent's king. As soon as he lays it down, the match is over. So, King to knight's pawn 3. King to knight's pawn 4. King to knight's pawn 5. And so on and so forth ad infinitum.

I mean, good luck with the petition and everything, but as anyone can see, Coleman is no longer interested in a good faith challenge, or a fair counting of the votes. That's the sure path to losing this election. But keeping a court challenge alive means he doesn't lose. The people of Minnesota can go hang, as far as Coleman and the Republicans are concerned.
