G-20 on the developing world
How genuine is the promise of no protectionism? I believe protectionism is needed for a short period, especially for developing nations before they compete on the world stage.

1. Given their products have been on the world stage for some time, your comment makes no sense.

Unless the world is composed only of these developing nations, of course...

2. It does
A cotton farmer in Africa faces major cotton corporations from the West in the economic realm. in any case, Western nations like the US have heavy subsidies that support their goods and their farmers while African farmers lose out.

3. You've answered your own question:
developing nations often lose out due to Western protectionism.

4. WTF?
Toxic products, shitty software and support... they ARE in the world market. Why do they deserve protection? And being taught by the people they are replacing for pennies on the dollar?!

5. It is the duty of a country to enact some form of protectionism

to propel or sustain itself as a global leader. There is a big difference in being a humanitarian and being self-sufficient. It is not the job of the US Government to build up foreign nations. I don't see India trying to build up the US Banks...They are doing everything possible to undercut US wages, as is China.

They destroyed our industries and dumped their dated crap on us.

We're about to tax the living hell on all junk food to support our health sector. That will keep some of the crap out.

add.
