Why I Like the new Democrat that the Obamas Represent.
Edited on Thu Apr-02-09 08:55 PM by Mike 03
I think the Obamas represent a more mature, informed, realistic type of Democrat, and I'm so happy about this.

To me the Obamas represent:

Being realistic about how the world works.

Being intelligent, articulate, eloquent, well-read and informed.

Thinking before we bark out complaints.

Giving as much as we take.

Not sitting around waiting for someone to wave a magic wand and everything will be okay, but accepting that the next decade will be a decade of struggle, and that it is childish and immature to be sitting around throwing spoons, like an infant at the table in a high chair, gurgling and spitting, because our needs are not being met.

Getting informed about what the word "economy" means and its implications for individuals and our private lives.

That we bear some responsibility for our own lives.

And that if we are fortunate, we can extend our generosity to others.

2. This country
Indeed, the whole world, is in deep shit. If we don't get off our asses and make real change, we're gonna be history and our kids will suffer.

Complacency is not an option. We have a small chance to get this country moving and we have a President that seems to know what our problems are. Forgive us for wanting what is best.

3. Yeah, it's so wonderful that another "new" Democrat is forking over our future (and $$) to Wall St.

and multi-national corporations. And doing the GOP's job of busting the nation's unions. And extending our already seven-plus year stay in Afghanistan even longer.

And he's doing it all so in such a well-read and informed style!

4. Agreed. And we must recognize
that we cannot do everything at once. Just as I do with my job and with my household chores, we must prioritize and then get as much done as we can. We don't need to hear somebody upset about not having ice cubes when we are trying to put out a burning housefire. You'll get your ice cubes eventually, but you'll need something to hold them in first.

14. For Joe:
I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you or me
Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead,"
"I never died," says he
"I never died," says he

"In Salt Lake, Joe," says I to him,
Him standing by my bed,
"They framed you on a murder charge,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead,"
Says Joe, "But I ain't dead."

"The copper bosses killed you, Joe,
They shot you, Joe," says I.
"Takes more than guns to kill a man,"
Says Joe, "I didn't die,"
Says Joe, "I didn't die."

And standing there as big as life
And smiling with his eyes
Joe says, "What they forgot to kill
Went on to organize,
Went on to organize."

"Joe Hill ain't dead," he says to me,
"Joe Hill ain't never died.
Where working men are out on strike
Joe Hill is at their side,
Joe Hill is at their side."

"From San Diego up to Maine,
In every mine and mill,
Where workers strike and organize,"
Says he, "You'll find Joe Hill,"
Says he, "You'll find Joe Hill."

I dreamed I saw Joe Hill last night,
Alive as you or me
Says I, "But Joe, you're ten years dead,"
"I never died," says he
"I never died," says he

13. I don't understand what part of that is new.
The idea that Democrats are not realistic, are emotional or not rational, don't know how the world works and don't expect to work hard or be responsible is right wing tripe. Do you believe it?

16. "Old" Democrats were immature, unrealistic, dumb, inarticulate, ill-informed complaining takers?
Yikes.
