What's going on with the Gitmo lawyers?

Today I see two articles about 2 different, long time Gitmo defense lawyers in trouble.

One is Clive Stafford Smith, facing a 6 month jail sentance for writing to Obama about his client's claims of having been tortured. (http://www.alternet.org/rights/134847/famed_gitmo_lawyer_facing_six_months_in_prison_for_writing_letter_to_obama_detailing_torture_of_client/ )

the other is of

William Kuebler, was fired because of a "conflict of interest". (http://www.thestar.com/news/world/article/613493) He is Republican fundy who is defending one of the detainees who actually has some apparently substantive ties to al Qaida.


I am beginning to see why this is going to take some time to unravel and close.
