3. As he continues to let the bankers run his administration
His rhetoric is empty, sadly.

Larry Summers, Tim Geithner and Wall Street's ownership of government

...

As much as he campaigned against anything, Obama railed against precisely this sort of incestuous, profoundly corrupt control by narrow private interests of the Government, yet he has chosen to empower the very individuals who most embody that corruption. And the results are exactly what one would expect them to be.

5. Well don't be too sure who is in charge.
Just because bush let people run things for him dose not mean that Obama is not in charge.
Time will tell on this.
And welcome to DU.

Just to drive home the point of how totally out of whack and lacking credibility every single one of those greedy fat-fucks are, and who they owe their Mercedes' to.

...the banker/corporate elite thought it would be the perfect time to pull off the biggest robbery ever...

14. I'm going to make a guess...
Edited on Sat Apr-04-09 01:23 PM by CoffeeCat
...and say that these criminal henchmen bankers have been bullying Obama--and implying
that the banks own him and got him elected.

I'm just guessing, but this statement suggestss that Obama is letting these banksters
know that he's in the cat-bird seat--and that they don't have him by the cajones.

Obama is telling the banksters that they are about as liked and respected as
the Manson family--and they'd better clam the hell up--because Obama is
the only thing standing between the nation completely burning their house down.

Obama is saying that HE'S in control and that THEY are NOT positioned as well
as they'd like to think they are.

Obama is spotlighting their vulnerabilty with the American public--and is
intimating that he can choose not to save their asses.

Can you frickin imagine what goes on behind the scenes with this crime syndicate?
I can't even imagine the jockeying for position and the abuse of power that goes on.
These bankers have no respect for the Presidency. They just want their little crime
wave to continue to play out without interference from the White House or the American
people.

Obama is finding out the tight grip these banksters have on our country (with help
from corporatist Dems and Reps). I'm not happy with what's going down, but let's
give Obama some time to out maneuver them, strip them of power and return control
to "We The People."

That's just not going to happen overnight. I do think this comment is very telling
and a sign that Obama is not going to kow tow to the banksters as they would like.

25. That's my reading on it, too, roughly speaking.
The corruption is systemic. Obama knows that he can't take all of the top law-breakers down because there simply are too many - and they are entrenched in government as well as in big business globally. Now Obama has to juggle. Try to avoid a world-wide run on the banks due to panic when the truth of financial insolvency is disclosed, while at the same time feverishly working on effective reforms in a free-fall situation no one has ever been in before.

27. I do too...
There are two scenarios here:

Obama is in on it and part of the problem...or;

he's at the mercy of these criminals and is trying his best to turn it around.

That's why there's such a disparity of opinion about Obama, at DU.

It's easy to make a case for either scenario.

29. Yes, those are the two alternatives.
As someone with years of training as a psychologist, I cannot help but trust my reading of him as a person. This man is a genuine civil servant with a heart of gold. That's what I see. Apart from that, he's a systems thinker, a brilliant strategist and highly skilled in interpersonal communications. He's out-maneuvering the crocodiles which infest the cesspool he's swimming in, but he and Michelle are not predators themselves.

Obama is the real McCoy, not a sell-out. It's a good thing to make as much noise as possible, everyone clamoring for what we want, threatening to give Wall Street & Co hell. That way we can back our frontman up to be more radical.

19. Shareholders with Pitchforks
These shareholder proposals will be voted on at the Citicorp annual meeting:

05 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING A REPORT ON PRIOR GOVERNMENTAL SERVICE OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS.
06 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING A REPORT ON POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS.
07 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING A REPORT ON PREDATORY CREDIT CARD PRACTICES.
08 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING THAT TWO CANDIDATES BE NOMINATED FOR EACH BOARD POSITION.
09 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING A REPORT ON THE CARBON PRINCIPLES.
10 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING THAT EXECUTIVE OFFICERS RETAIN 75% OF THE SHARES ACQUIRED THROUGH COMPENSATION PLANS FOR TWO YEARS FOLLOWING TERMINATION OF EMPLOYMENT.
11 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURE REGARDING CITI'S COMPENSATION CONSULTANTS.
12 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING THAT STOCKHOLDERS HOLDING 10% OR ABOVE HAVE THE RIGHT TO CALL SPECIAL SHAREHOLDER MEETINGS.
13 STOCKHOLDER PROPOSAL REQUESTING CUMULATIVE VOTING.

Methinks the ways of corporate "governance" are going to change.

FDR said pretty much the exact same thing, FDR once said privately that he was trying to save capitalism and Liberal Democracy from the capitalists.
