Vermont needs your help! Contact these representatives!

With the victory in Iowa, we need to shift our attention back to Vermont. I'm posting this message because same-sex marriage in Vermont is at our fingertips and within our grasp. Don't let the governor steal this away from us. We are so close...

The Vermont gay marriage bill passed the House 94-52 on Friday. Two yes votes were absent, and one representative who was absent on Thursday voted yes. That means it is 96-52. This is four votes shy of the veto-proof 100 majority necessary to override a promised veto from Governor Douglas.

Democrats that voted AGAINST S.115 (We need their support to override the veto)
Kenneth Atkins, D-Winooski < katkins@leg.state.vt.us, kwa138@aol.com > (802) 655-1280
Sonny Audette, D-South Burl. (802) 862-4236
Clem Bissonnette, D-Winooski < cbissonnette@leg.state.vt.us, clembi@comcast.net > (802) 655-9527
Cynthia Browning, D-Arlington < cbrowning@leg.state.vt.us, cynthiab@sover.net > (802) 375-9019
Tim Corcoran, D-Bennington < tcorcoran@leg.state.vt.us > (802) 447-0929
Michel Consejo, D-Sheldon < mconsejo@leg.state.vt.us, mconsejo@wildblue.net > (802) 524-0305
Debbie Evans, D-Essex < devans@leg.state.vt.us, ekevans@aol.com > (802) 878-4317
Richard Howrigan, D-Fairfield (802) 827-6513
David Potter, D-Clarendon < dpotter@leg.state.vt.us, shadmtn@msn.com > (802) 438-5385
Robert South, D-St. Johnsbury < rsouth@leg.state.vt.us, vtrepsouth@gmail.com > (802) 748-0873
Jeff Young, D-St. Albans City < jyoung@leg.state.vt.us, jeffeyoung@yahoo.com > (802) 524-5284

Republicans that voted FOR S.115 (We have their support.. thank them, and urge them to maintain support for the bill once it is vetoed)
Anne Donahue, R-Northfield < adonahue@leg.state.vt.us, counterp@tds.net > (802) 485-6431
Richard Hube, R-Londonderry < Huberick@sover.net > (802) 824-5052
Patti Komline, R-Dorset < pkomline@leg.state.vt.us > (802) 867-4232
Heidi Scheuermann, R-Stowe < hscheuermann@leg.state.vt.us > (802) 253-2275
Kurt Wright, R-Burlington < kwright@leg.state.vt.us > (802) 658-1410

Debbie Evans and Sonny Audette have told the Burlington Free Press they will switch to "yes" votes on an override because of how Douglas interfered with the legislative process with his veto pledge. In addition, Shap Smith, the Speaker of the House, will be allowed to cast his vote; he has been an advocate of the bill.

So we just need to convince a few other democrats to do the right thing. We need to convince them it is time for marriage equality in Vermont. Contact these representatives! Tell them to vote along party lines and to prevent the governor from interfering with the legislative process. Despite being bombarded with emails, it is likely they will read a lot of messages they receive.

1. thanks for the post
Even though VT legislators pay far more attention to Vermonters than from those outside the state, they're not immune to large numbers of emails.

I definitely think Anne Donohue is someone who could vote to overrturn the veto. She's a very devout catholic, so that she supported the bill to begin with, bodes well.
