I took my daughter's team to the state history finals in Phoenix today
Hundreds of high school and junior high kids fron across the state competing for the prize of going to the nationals in D.C.
My two daughters, (one a junior and one a sophmore) and their teammate put together a very well researched narrated DVD about the Dalai Lama, replete with Tibetan music and very old videos. Some of the competition included DVD bios of Nelson Mandela, Oskar Schindlar, and many more fine efforts. The top two won the prize. Alas, my kids' team did not win, but it was a fun day (except for the horrible Phoenix traffic and the 8 hours on the road). Good to see so many motivated kids.

1. Congratulations on having raised two smart young women. It's good to hear good news like this.
Especially today.

2. That sounds like a fun day.
I used to co-coach debate and also judged a lot of debate and forensics.

Young people can be very interesting and inspiring.

3. And congrats to you, the kind of "involved" parent that's necessary. Your
children are very fortunate. Kudos to the girls also.
